Can excute files

After installing my scanner drives and rebooting, all my files cant be excuted. They dont even have the correct icons. The icons look like the windows default icon when a file cant be open. Cant explain it correctly. Cant take a screenshot because paint or paintshop cant open :/. Anyone know how to fix this? I cant do a system restore either, not even in safe mode.

put your Windows XP CD in and restart. IIRC, there should be an option to reinstall the windows portion without deleting your files. Maybe that will help.

Otherwise, it sounds like you may need to reformat/reinstall.
