In all movies i saw i've never seen a strider coming down, i mean in a particular movie where Gordon and some friends (i think barney was among them) they all have rocket launcher, and i belive at leats 5 rockets were shot at the strider (Gordon fired a few later) and the damm monstor keep coming and killing, i mean if i remember correctly in half life 1 a guy could only take 1 rocket in the wepon and 5 more in reserve (if my math is correct that gives 6 rockets total) if i see the strider surviving +5 rockets how can we kill that bitch??

A whole bunch of rocket launchers? or maybe you can overbalance it because of its height and thin legs? I dunno... Guess we'll see soon

-Qtip

Could be like those big blue bastards in halflife, where its a whole level to take one down.

maybe brute power is not the key...maybe u gotta snipe the beeyotch... in a leg joint, the cannon, etc

hey, what if..there is a shutdown button on the strider and u gotta climb onto its back to press it?

We don't know how to do so.

But a couple of the reviews state that they can be killed, IIRC.

i got it!.......POWER LINES!!!!! make the ****er walk into power lines in the city

What bink was this? I thought i dreamt about it see the other strider thread on the main page........

I wonder if the deaths will be scripted. Bringing something that big down in the middle of the street could cause all sorts of problems.

"....rogue group use your harpoons and tow cables, go for the legs it may be our only chance of stopping them..." lol

not bink, the E3 2004 vid

or maybe a zero-point cannon...in 1 of the binks there are two cannons 1 on the strider and out of frame <i think it on the roof of a building> maybe u gottsa up there and use that

I don't know which interview it was, but there sure was one in which one of the VALVe employees said you can kill the striders. I'm very curious about how it looks (falling over and stuff) :).

hmmm I think striders can be taken down but it will be hard

Probably enough rockets will take it down. In the bink video the strider that took all the rocket hits began to retreat. It squatted down and crawled away to where the other strider was. My guess is that a couple more rockets would have taken it down.

I hope we get to use a super weapon in Hl2 where you can kill striders with only two or three shoots, but if it is i hope they give us that in about the end of the game. i would like to kill a strider using the rocket launcher also, but not everytime i see striders...

Like some alien technology or something. Rumour is that near the end of the game you get this cube that is powered by the souls of demons, uh, i mean headcrabs you kill and...uh...oops.

that would be Doom3...

I bet they are as hard to kill as those large blue monstors from HL1

"No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own"

I reckon these striders will be taken down by Earth's bacteria ;)

Worthy of a big LOL. Good call.

It should be pretty easy to break its legs, like with a rocket.

I'm also betting on this, the mention of that you get to navigate rockets with the help of your rebel companions might have to do with this.
To you who thought you just had to bring it down: A strider on the ground that's firing its laser like crazy would still be quite a problem, wouldn't you say?

Is that scene in the e3 2004 video too? I haven't seen it yet b/c I thought it would ruin too much for me but now I want it :)

Dunno, haven't seen it. I just agreed on the "I'm guessing rockets will be what kills them." part.

I'l be taking down many a strider, then re-loading and doing it all over again :D

seems logical if bullets dont do much
but rocket should un balance them i gess.

I reckon that you have to shoot the area between the body armour on its top and the legs...

I've read from an interview; the answer is
Yes, they can be killed

It would be cool if someone could take a strider down with just a pistol :sniper:
