It should. A highlight of the source engine is that everything has a mass. If you land on a piece of old moldy wood, it might snap. So you as a player weigh something, in HL1 this was not true. Weather or not that mass translates to hp deductions is still up in the air. I'll be interested to know.
barrels dont hurt u, this guy had 1 life, and on purposely threw a nade at a barrel and it flew staight at him, and guess what, it went through him, but im sure this sint true in hl2
Yes, I know for a fact that if an object in CS:S with enough mass hits you hard enough, it will do damage. I read a post a while ago by some guy that had a barrel thrown at him from a grenade blast, and the impact killed him.
Just to be sure, I played a 1v1 match with my bro, and cranked up the bullet velocity. Every time we shot one of the barrels, it would go screaming across the map and kill anyone in its way. We basically played a quick deathmatch with barrels only, and it was a blast.
Finally, to be clear, chances are that you'll NEVER be damaged by flying debris in CS:S. I've logged a lot of hours since the CZ-owners beta and have never been damaged under normal circumstances. It would be great if broken bottles or flying guns would damage you slightly when a grenade burst nearby.
To answer ElFuhrer, no, you can't hurt someone by jumping onto them. Would be nice if they added this in the future.
according to phys_pushscale -99, no. but the TV in test_hardware DOES in fact hurt you. set phys_pushscale -99 in test_hardware and shoot the TV in the room near the HL2 door. it will come at you and kill you.
