many people dont like cs and resort to insulting it and saying only lamers play it is because they got owned, whether by a legit player or a cheater. thats what it comes down to. no one likes to be owned, and no one likes to play a game they constantly get owned at. thats what it comes down to.

Don't want to turn this into a psychology discussion but I think that the way they act online is a direct reflection of how they see the world. So if calling everyone in a server "gay" and using various cheats and exploits to ruin it for everyone shows the type of person they really are. This is the reason these people have little friends and that is why a game is all they really have.

Right you are. I've always been full of respect for others in CS, I was always the one to try and talk some sense in some people. But that wasn't too difficult a couple of years ago when CS was still something to be excited about. Now more than half of a server is full of "j00z just been pwned!!!11!!1!" and if I ever try to give advice to someone they respond "bite me assdick" or the infamous "stfu nub". I just gave up. The CS community became total anarchy and I no longer enjoy playing this game where Half the people are super good, and the other half are super bad.

You must play on the wrong servers :). Feel free to visit the server in my sig, we are ranked 8th best CS server in the world (actually I think our rank went up, I need to check). We are not the only good server though, there are many other great servers that have mature admins that take care of these "ass-hats" that like to ruin it for others.
 
I would if I still enjoyed the game, it's over for me, I'm too excited about HL2 to care about CS, sorry...

I constantly get owned in CS, and I like it.
But my connection sucks too bad now to play. Once I get a sattelite high speed hookup (out of range for DSL or Cable) I'll start playing multi again. ^^
 
Hmm CS

I like the game alot, its real fun, only when you get the right server (no cheats, or stupid players)
 
I never really liked CS, I've always found DoD to be a lot friendlier and more fun.

ok fine - "I" don't care about Counter Strike or Condition Zero. Although I think it's nice that they continue to support that game all this time, I think Valve should put ALL of their focus and resources on Half Life 2.

Let's move on! Let's start using our PCs for what they were built to do, not treading water in the same spot for 2 years.

Half Life 2 will be a guaranteed, mega-blockbuster hit for Valve - as long as it has no competition. The longer they put it off, the more time there is for other developers to put their flagship products on the market. Games like Doom3 and STALKER are looking MIGHTY nice, and they too are only a few months away. HL2 could have the FPS market all to itself for a couple months if Valve can get it out on time.

I support valve entirely but this is getting depressing. Look at the latest email in the email valve thread. :'(

They arnt gona say anything for a while. :(
