It's truly getting ridiculous how many Americans have this kind of attitude. I swear we're starting to go back in time.

Might as well start up the cold war again while we're at it.

Actually, I never said I was isolationist. I just happen to think that Canada has been bitching about my country for 4 years now. They've tried to undermine everything we've done for 4 years and now they're pissed we re-elected Bush.

They've tried to undermine everything we've done? How? What have they undermined exactly?

Mr. Bildo said:
I happen to love Australia, Britain, most of Eastern Europe, Central America, South America.. in fact, the only people I have a serious problem with are the French, Germans, and Canadians. That's not isolastionist, it's selective.

Ah, a selective isolationist and nationalistic superiority complex. I see.

Crap, you mean you're here too?

Yes.

No, it's racist.

Yes, certainly the United States is responsible for Jewish genocide. (looks up history books) Wait, look! Thousands of American's and Canadians died in that war. What the hell point are you trying to make? Wow, comparing the U.S. to Nazi Germany is so original! Micheal Moore would be so proud of you!

nationalism led to hate ..there is no implication that I'm comparing the US to the nazi regime ...did you not see the second image of intolerance at Little Rock?

Yes! You've caught me! I'm a hater of all people of Germanic, Visigoth, and Anglo-Saxon decent! I hate the Gauls too! My God, where's my hood!

And for Christ's sake, don't ever use the word racist and Germany in the same context while Holocaust survivors and WWII vets are still alive. You lefties might wanna try some education one's in a while before you come off charging everyone that doesn't want to suck ass with Europe as racists and isolationists.

If we're so isolationist, why did we fight a war in Afghanistan and Iraq? What do you want?

Please stay in America, we have enough immigrants here as it is.

point out where canada has tried to undermine the US ...we politely declined an invitation into the coalition, thats as far as it goes

no that's idiotic ..tell me, do you hate all 66 million frenchmen? how about all 82 million germans? do you hate all 30 million canadians down to the last child?

Shall I find some images of Canada's treatment of native Inuit peoples? I suppose that was just history, huh?

And for the sake of historical accuracy (something I'm sure you're not accustom to), what does the plight of African-American's have to do with nationalism? What does disliking Canada's treatment of the United States have to do with the Civil Rights movement in America. I mean, I guess you're trying to make a point, but I think you're just grasping here.

now you're just flaming

Apparantly, Canada hates the whole of the 50+ million people that voted for Bush.

And of course I don't hate all the French, Germans and Canadians. I'm sure there are many that probably have a similar world view as me, unfortunantly, all we hear in the States are the anti-American's.

I'm so sick of hearing the rest of the world trash on my country. I'm defensive. I'm disgusted. I'm fed up. If you don't like America, fine. If you think Bush is a Nazi, fine. But don't be suprised when one of us dumb American's starting complaining about it. Don't act so suprised.

How many of our people have died defending France? Toppling the Nazi's? Instead of asking me why I'm so pissed at Canada, France, and Germany, why the hell don't you guys figure out your problem with us?

Alright, go ahead, find some pictures. It wasn't cowboys and indians when the British and French landed my friend.

So that's what it's all about? Same sex marriage? You're right, I didn't get the point.

I have to say.. I live in Michigan and I voted against gay marriage. Personally, I can't speak to that issue.

I will actually agree with you that I don't like people from other countries criticizing America as a whole or all the American people as one. It does not make sense.

I just have a problem when Americans turn around and do the exact same thing to those other countries. Instead of saying, I dislike the people trashing American as a whole, they say, "I dislike that country."

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Heh, I love America. I love my country. I hate my goverment, but America is great. If I get drafted, then I serve my country, which is fine with me. I would think it's the same with most people from most other countries too. (About the fighting for your country thing.)

No.. two wrongs don't make a right.

I just don't know how much more America can do to reach out to the world. Look at our history, folks, we're not conformers to the standard. But honestly look at the good America does in the world. My tax money is spent on medical treatment for people all over the world. How can I not take it personal when I hear the kind of garbage I hear in the news today about how France is now snubbing the U.S. or some Canadian PM-type is calling our president deragatory names. The world hates the U.S., so be it. But I'm not going to like it.

Bah.. I'm going to bed..

Just be thankful none of us are diplomats...

Does the Queen make you superior, is that what it is?
Trust me, we hate the queen.

So you hate the french and the canadians. I'm a french canadian, so you must hate me big time.

For what? not supporting your president?

i would rather our taxes went to our health first... w/ all the money we spend world wide on war and other things, we could have a national healthcare system. but no war is good and more important right?

Socialized medicine isn't what it's cracked up to be. I laugh everytime I hear Canadian's talking about free health care. They are paying through the nose for it in taxes and the care is poor. The only thing Canada's health care system has going for it is cheap drugs and currently an abundance of the flu vaccine. Just recently, there was a story on the news here about some sort of proposal that basicly ammounted to doctors getting bonuses for prescribing less drugs... You think HMOs are bad, do you really want the government deciding whether or not you need an operation or a particular prescription? The governement pretty much screws up everything they dig their paws into. Why does anyone expect health care to be different?

No, our healthcare system does not provide poor treatment and no the government does not decide if we do an operation or not. Ok, its true the system is not perferct, but it works well. And its also true we pay through taxes, but at least everyone has access to it, even poor people.

That's the misconception about the US healthcare system. Poor people do have access to healthcare in the US, they just don't have access to what Americans consider "good" healthcare. They have to go to the walk-in clinic or county hospital, which seems to be the equivalent of what Canadians have to deal with, and honestly if I were critical I think I'd stand a much better chance at a county hospital in the US.

What I like about the US healthcare system, is that I can choose my doctor. I have a regular doctor who has been dealing with me and my family since I was very young. He knows my complete history, he knows my family history. It's a level of personal care you can't get in Canada unless you have a whole lot of money. If I need a specialist, I just go to the specialist, I don't go to the GP at the walk-in clinic for a referral first. If I need emergency care I can get taken care of much quicker in the US. No there isn't some government agency in Canada deciding who gets what care, but there's a level of bueraucracy in the Canadian healthcare system that doesn't exist in the US. I think eliminating the red tape and getting much more personalized care is worth the out of pocket expense myself, having had to deal with both healthcare systems.

the misconception works both ways ..I have a family doctor, a dentist, a pediatrician for my son, several specialists (my son was born premature ..meaning they monitor his progress till age of 6) and an optomotrist

My son was born pre-mature by 3 months ..If I was uninsured and living in the US the hospital stay would have been more than $300,000 US ...I was freelancing at the time I dont think I could have afforded insurance but since I live in canada I didnt have to worry about that. Oh and my dad has been in and out of hospitals for the last 5 years and has had 2 life saving operations ..we never had to wait

Cornholio, CptStern, Nicrd, and -Viper- I believe have been fortunate enough to have good health care, all around.

When the topic comes up, I cant help but think with the term of "Poor Healthcare", an impoverished street or town not having proper access to medical services or its technologies.

I'm sure its about the same with other Canadians or Americans, to have situations of good or bad healthcare, but to my opinion, I've always thought they were very similiar.
