Canadians Scared of Prince of Persia Ad

Meh, if the kid didn't like it he didn't like it. Its only an advertisement, it doesn't sound too over zealous like she has some moral reason to be against it other than the justifiable "My child was scared"

However, that part about the butter knife...Hmm...Odd woman, perhaps a little overprotective, in which case my first comment loses some of its standing.

ummm isnt that like the kettle calling the pot black? you americans ban nipples for gods sakes ..cant get more anal than that

oh and they failed to mention how old the kid was ...some kids are afraid of barney (for good reason). The mother does sound like the nutter "wont someone think about the children" type

Ban nipples? What...Like you get them cut off at birth? :p

I didn't think most places let you show nipples on daytime television.

hehe you havent watched canadian tv :) There's this sex show on tv at around 9 pm that leaves nothing to the imagination ...I mena they once showed a fat gay man shaving another fat gay man's ...private area ...I dont think I'll ever recover :x

I was referring to the Janet jackson incident, it was shown on prime time television

HOLY S**T, An add for a game will NOT make your children violent, if that kid can't take it be SURE he never gets on the internet, because the first time he sees goatse he will slit his wrists.

Yeah but thats different. I dunno about Canada, but we had a thing called the watershed. On most channels apart from Sky Movies, its 9 o'clock. After that they can show anything they want (Well, with a few exceptions that cannot be shown on British TV...thank goodness) Anyway yeah, they usaually express a little common curtosy though and leave the less "imaginatively stimulating" stuff till later, although Channel 5 went through a phase of boosting rathings by appealing to men's little partners in crime. It seems they try to cut it closer each day though.

Its not just about violence, its about nightmares and being scared. Like I said, if he was scared, he was scared. No problem with that really...

But yeah, games don't make you violent swear to buggery, and I'l kill anyone who disagrees with me. ;)

hehe

we have the same thing here ...cesorship till about 9pm, no censorship after ...well sort of

before 9 oclock some channels will allowing swearing ...to a point ...for example if someone says:

motherfcker ,they'll censor the word "mother" but not fcker ...after 9pm they dont censor it at all ...not every channel does this but some do

I actualy agree with the lady. If you have a big picture of some cray looking bastard with a sword and a gun fighting off freaky looking zombies. I mean it would be like me putting on all the buses a picture of Samson stricking down a thousand men with a donkeys Jaw bone.

The point is, this picture is taken completly out of context, regarless of the fact that the Prince and Samson fought against evil men, these pictures could realy bother young children who dont have the capacity to understand who or what these charactres are all about.

Maybe its because of what is insinuated by the adding of mother to such a word...That or the censors are just not very good at what they do.

stern, you're just joshin here, right? thats just so, very, very wrong...

I think it's funny that words are censored but acts of violence arent ...just watch CSI ...there's a body part in every episode yet they wont even say "shite"

edit: no, I'm not kidding ...oh they once showed a nude pageant on the evening news ...showed everything ...even a bit of female genitalia

well, traumatizing, emotionally scarring images, whatever, but naughty words! ohnoes!

saw a decapitated head on csi once ..but dear god they better not show a nipple on prime time or I'll liable to commit some form of deviant act ...like touch myself ;)

You're right scooby, this guy is one sick son of a bitch.

Foul language is usless. A good writter can creat good dialog without any foul language.

CSI is not violent in the sense that its main characters are violent, yet they do their job messing with dead people to bring the violent people to justice. They handle in a mature way as it was ment for mature viewers.

I agree when they have things like Die Hard on tv. Where you see 60 guys mowed down by an mp5 with out reloading and they dub over the cursing with words like, "stupid turkey Lover"
LOL...

LOL wasn't there an episode were they found a head in a bucket.

I agree but CSI tends to like sensationalism over realism ...do we really need to see how a bullet enters the body and proceeds to rips through the internal organs? Isnt it enough that they just say "the bullet entered his body and proceeded to rips through his organs" ...it's a stylistic choice, just like cursing

cursing is part of everyday language, decapitations are not

edit: ya I think I saw that one :)

yes but you Yakuza (literal meaning: "without worth for the society") do that for fun ...so it doesnt count :)

yes and no ....I dont get HBO, it costs extra and only comes with movie channels which suck IMHO but we do get some HBO shows like the sopranos and six feet under (uncut on regular cable tv)

Actualy the literal meaning is a set of numbers that would describe a useless hand in a Japanese game called Oicho-Kabu.
The numbers are Ya=8 ku=9 za=3

However the discription of what this accounts for is, yes a worthless hand for society.

Stern, all things being equal, did u have to give pple a mental image of "like touch myself" ? :p
anyway...it depends how old this kid is...i mean if hes very young is it so hard to imagine him being scared?

Tonight, let us pray that this woman, and the man with the comment about jails suffer awful, awful brain haemorrages.

Great Mantis, if you do this, I promise to sacrifice several hours to you in deep meditation.

Bless you, Mantis, bless you.
