I'm quite sure I don't know what you are talking about.

On our daytime shows if they say asshole, they censor "Hole"

Our censorship is only on public broadcast. Subscription services that you have to specifically do something special to access (pay for it, or register or an account, not just something any little kid can turn to with a channel changer and TV) are immune from censorship. They usually censor themselves sometimes to cater to audiences (IE: Nickelodeon isn't gonna show nipples and blown up bodies. But if they wanted to they could)

At the official PoP forums...I read something like this.
It isn't really PoP.
Since when does the Prince hold a ****ing gun.

saw a decapitated head on csi once ..but dear god they better not show a nipple on prime time or I'll liable to commit some form of deviant act ...like touch myself ;)

Man that reminds me not long ago on channel 4 there was a program called 101 things to do with a dead body and this was deeply disturbing  it actually showed real dead bodies, which I personaly find disturbing and yet they won't show porn :(
I'm a teenager! Teenagers NEED porn :flame:

i think generalizing canadians are afraid of PoP posters isn't the best approach. Its just some stupid, overprotective mom. Other countries have those too u know.

Nobody is doing that, perhaps it seems that way but they aren't really.

I DEMAND AN APOLOGY! I'M DOWNRIGHT OFFENDED! not really. It's all good, no worries.

I got pissed off and a moderator at Ubisoft's Prince of Persia edited my post.

I feel great!

[sarcasm]Yeah, you better not. You Canadians, always complaining about everything[/sarcasm]

we always complain about everything? no we dont! i'm gonna send in a complaint about that.

woooo 1000 posts :naughty:

I feel like I have to say something about this but I don't want to.

I'll just sit back and wait for more clever observations about societies ills.

/me pulls up chair.

EDIT: oh yeah the "me command" doesn't work anymore

better watch out or us canadains will start chasing you with hockey sticks and beer. lol

on another note i just noticed jon lives only a few hours away from me

or lack therof. You can't be a functioning member of society if you can't use a butter knife, folks.

i live in kamloops.

i cant use a butter knife unless it has been warmed up in a mircowave

Funny thing... here they'll even censor stuff that's on at midnight. In Short Circuit 2, they even removed the the majority of the scene where Johnny Five got beaten up, and he's a freakin' robot!

But, oh no, they couldn't show the spilling of battery acid and the splitting of wires on TV, now, could they?

They probably related the Character as being a somewhat human entity--but they also probably thought it would be too cruel for those whom were older or younger. ...I dunno...

I wish they would uncensor all man-bits here in America. :cheese:

In the US censorship largely depends on the channel its being shown on. CBS and ABC will often censor things that Fox easily gets away with, while Sci-Fi, The History Channel (especially when they showed BoB), and Comedy Central can often get away with violence/vulgarity that is off the charts. And Bravo can do just about ANYTHING. :D
Edit: And yeah, who the hell designed the ad with gun?! I hate marketing people sometimes.

Hey, if that worked for taking the ads down, maybe I can get rid of the stuff that gives me nightmares?
Mostly dogs and clowns.

Ban dogs and clowns! Boycott Benji! No more cirque du soleil! Keep our streets safe for the timid and the idiotic!

Here's what I bet happened:

Kid: What is the man in that poster doing?

Mom: He's got a sword! Swords are used to kill people... This ad will hurt you! It will damage your brain! Don't look at it!! IF YOU LOOK AT IT YOU WILL KILL YOUR FRIENDS!

Kid: AHHHH!!! THAT MAN IS SCAREY!

Mom: Oh no, my son is traumatised! Dang you videogames!

The only mainstream TV channels regulated by the FCC in the United States are NBC, ABC, and CBS. Those are network channels that travel freely over the airways. The FCC has no jurisdiction over cable, so they can literally play whatever the hell they want. The fact is that many cable channels choose to self-censor themselves, which has nothing to do with the FCC. The only place where the FCC carries a large presedence is in radio.

If you have any of the premium channels, particularly Cinemax, then you'd know that they start playing soft core porn at 10pm. America isn't nearly as censored as some people think.

In Finland, there is almost no censorship at all, if they show heavy violence/sex, they show them very late.

K15 ( Must be 15 to watch ) programs start at 21.00 and later

K18 ( Must be 18 to watch ) programs start at 23.30 and later

When I was 4 I was watching movies like Alien and random war movies, the kid has nightmares from just seeing a picture of a person hold a gun...

well then your parents have ...issues. No 4 year old should see Alien, the movie was rated R for a reason

4 year olds have nightmares about Barney ...so it's no surprise he had a nightmare from a scary image

You think my parents have issues? You are the dumb **** pot head.

I watched Aliens during a sleepover when I was younger and I was afraid to go in my basement after that. lol

I was also afraid of Ronald McDonald until I was 6 and realized it was just some nut in a costume (mainly because the actor who played him changed and I noticed the difference).

I got scared when I was on the subway once because this one homeless guy looked at me and smiled. :D

I was also afraid of my grandfather for a brief period because he would make the loudest sneezes you have ever heard.

The point is that you can get scared from pretty much anything at a young age. Forcing the company to take down the ads seems a little extreme though. There are far more scary things in this world than a picture of someone with a gun. Something is guaranteed to scare you and it is different for everyone.

Hehe, my brother was afraid of our boat because of the noise it made on start-up. Now going for a boat ride is his favorite thing to do while we are up at our cottage. :)

huh? where did that come from?

was I wrong in saying that movies that are Rated R shouldnt be watched by a 4 year old? Do you think Ridley scott had 4 year old in mind when he made Alien? Oh btw I'm a father and an uncle ...I know a little about parenting

so take your insult back or I'm going to give you a wet willy

there is a quite major difference between scandinavian sensorship and american.we are much more liberal when it comes to censorship, especially language.

anyways, this post should be closed
it's become nothing but a flame war between americans and canadians :flame:
