i go to install the game, before it even starts it says u must rerun the installation on a administrators account, and i am on the computer administrators account, its frustrating me!!! any1 help? plz

...try again? Start on a different account that is an admin account? Make a new account that is an admin account?

Have you installed Steam and created a Steam account? Are you connected to the net when you are trying all this?

i have tried creating new account admin account and stuff still says it :( and nah i dont got vista, and it says it when i run either the steam or hl2 installation

Err - NOT a new USER account on your PC, a STEAM account online for the game. Yes, even if you will NEVER play online.

it should still install the game no matter if you have a steam account or not. So stop yelling at him please; it nots helping him at all with his problem. Are you trying to install from a cd/dvd or from steam?

You're an idiot. Or a pirate. You MUST create or log onto a Steam account BEFORE any installation can take place in a LEGAL version of the game. MUST. It's the first thing you HAVE to do, right after installing Steam. There is NO (legal) way around it.

im no pirate dont just assume that because i have anothor way of doing it. i bought the first version of hl2 when it came out. it installed steam automatically from the disc.

...and then you had to CREATE AN ACCOUNT and register your CD key etc BEFORE you could continue with the install. I got it when it came out too. And any time you re-install, you STILL have to log onto your account FIRST.

*sigh* forget it you cant even stop an argument even though its over
...Then why are YOU still posting about it? Oh, the irony. Just admit defeat and that you are wrong, and stop posting about it if if bothers you that much. You were INDISPUTABLY wrong by saying people can (legally) install HL2 and other STEAM games WITHOUT a STEAM account. You cannot dispute the FACT that you are WRONG, yet you are trying to act like I am the one who is incorrect? I'm not going to let that one fly, so of course I am replying.

Ok, argument over, or this thread will probably be locked and, Shasta, you will probably be banned.

WTF there is no other way of doing it.
INSTALL STEAM.
INSTALL GAME.
PLAY.

omfg people the conversation is over JESUS some of you just dont know how to let it go.

They can't ban Shasta. HE'S TOO POWERFUL.

Thread lock kthxbai.

I wouldn't go THAT far, but when I'm right, I'm right. You need to log onto a Steam account to install a Steam game, and for someone to actually argue anything different is just retarded.

Anyway, I am right, and the thread starter hasn't been back anyway. Probably was trying to do something dodgy, or found/worked out an answer elsewhere.

For correcting someone on how Steam works? Get a grip.

No, not for correcting someone; for biting people's heads off. You're way, way too assertive. Just chill out and stop continuing arguments when they've already finished. Yes, the answer you gave was probably correct (I'm no expert so I can't say whether it was!:P) so just leave it at that! Geez!

So pointing out the facts offends you? You don't get out much, do you?

If I am holding a fork, and someone tries to tell me it's a plate, yells at me "you're wrong!" and then says "oh, just forget it", I will NOT forget it, I will make sure they (and anyone else around) knows just what an idiot they are, and they they thought a fork was a plate. Unless they just come out and say "Oops! I was mistaken! My bad". It's not hard to do, especially when the undeniable facts are staring them in the face. Hell, even I have mis-read the odd thing or two and made a mistake - but I have no problem admitting that IF I am wrong. But I guess "giant384" likes to look like a fool.

Shasta, just shut up and stop being a f***ing arsehole!!!

I'm not. I'm defending the fact that I am right, when someone was claiming I was wrong. AND I'm doing it without swearing etc - which is more than can be said for you...

yes but your being a asshole about it. youve already made your point so stop argueing.

Sure. But as YOU made all this a big deal in the first place, and continuously made out like I was the one who was wrong, I'd like you to admit that I was right, and YOU were wrong. We all know it, but I think it might help your personal growth for you to actually say it.
