can't join CS game in Steam

I installed the larger steam with CS included after finding I couldn't join a CS game in the regular installer (after letting steam download CS and HL). I kept getting a "Lost connection" error when trying to actually join a game with room for me.

I get about 3 lost connection error boxes and then I get an HL.exe exception error, then I think Steam generates another error, and it just crashes.

I am connected through a router. Do I need to set something up in my D-Link?

I really wish we had one Official help thread thing for steam.. A new one is created every hour :/

If we're allowed wishes, I really wish that you had a suggestion for me regarding the problem.

I don't know if I actually have to set something up in the D-Link router or if this is a general bug.

Found the answers on the official steam forum.

After opening these port ranges in my D-Link, i was able to connect and play.
