cant make HL2DM maps anymore?

so i havent messed with source sdk in a couple years and today i decided to open up a few old projects. only thing is now it only gives me the option to map for episode 2, portal, and TF2. how do i get my HL2DM back so i can map for it? i remember back in the day you had to launch the game first for it to show up but thats not doing anything here. i tried to configure it manually but that definitely didnt work. any help please?
 
I've had the exact same problem. Dunno what to tell ya sorry.
 
For games that don't run on the Episode 2 engine, you need to open Source SDK with a certain command. I believe it's "-engine ep1" but I could be wrong. Check the Read Me.
 
holy shit i think youre right the map just loaded up okay on hammer. ill have to investigate further tomorrow.

Furhter notice!

It seems as if cubemaps now behave oddly when created with the ep1 engine. Yup its a pain but thats how it seems. So if you get corrupted maps after building cubemaps, then recompile your map, move the map into a ep2 game (episode 2 is the most suitable) and build your cubemaps there, and then move it back.
 
oh wow i did notice some odd things with that...i was like "why the hell did my 357 just turn black?".

another thing...how are you supposed to use bspzip these days? i used to use this gui thing but that doesnt work anymore...and i fear using bspzip these days might be different than the way some tutorials say how to use it...as most of those tutorials are older.
