Cant play HL2 with dx9 only dx8.1... why? =/

yo yo yo everyone =)
I have a Geforce FX 5900 XT (dx 9 card). And I cant play HL2 with dx9 only dx 8.1.

Anyone know how to fox this? I mean.. I really wanna play the game with dx9 instead of 8.1

Maybe this was brought up before but I cant find any thread

right click on half-life 2 and under properties click launch options. then type -dxlevel 90 to set it to 9.0. youll see why the game defaults to 8.1. to set it back just change 90 to 81

the fx 5800 and 5900 render dx9 fine
even the water
so the only issue that he will have is worse performance.
