Capcom: "RE6 as soon as possible"

agreed.
RE5 was fun but survival horror is what the series is best at, not action

Wasn't it the same as RE4?

I stopped playing after Code Veronica. Tried the Outbreak series, but it's incredibly "meh".

never been a fan of clunky controls and slow moving characters that move like tanks. RE4 was the only game out the series I actually played and enjoyed

Resident Evil 5 was shit. I have a unwavering love for the Resident Evil series though, specifically 1-CV.

Hopefully they'll ditch the mainstream approach they took with RE5 and go back to survival horror.

What part of "as soon as possible" didn't you understand. Thats non-code talk for "rushed piece of shit."

I didn't like 4 and 5 at all. I found Dead Space to be truer to the original games than either one of those titles.
At least that game was scary. They veered off into a whole other direction after Nemesis.

I thoroughly enjoyed RE5, though I'm not a big fan of the African setting. When it comes to Zombies/plague, I prefer a city or urban setting.

Someone please explain to me how RE5 was any more "mainstream" than the other games in the series?

In that it was more of an action game than a survival horror.

ITT: no love for code veronica

old school resi please! Then again re5 sold a butt load of copies...we'll never get an old school game again :(

what happened to capcom waiting 4-8 years before doing another resi? I'm really starting to hate capcom this gen :flame:

i liked CVX, not as good as 1/2/3 but WAAAYYY better than that pos number 5 >_>

I didn't like Code Veronica.

Cuz I got stuck. Try and pick back up again months later and it's like WTF, I have no idea.

I don't care how much you guys hate it, I'm buying RE5. When it's $10.

Play it with a friend - it's not even worth $10 if you're going solo!

Yes, this. I've just been playing through RE5, and oh what garbage it is. 4 was splendid though, even if it was an unwelcome departure from, survival horror.

4 worked because it was designed around one player, not so with 5. The problem is the awful buddy ai - the game is simply broken in single player.

It's foolish to hope that, RE4 and RE5(Which basically copied and modified RE4s formula) both sold very well, I sincerely doubt they're going to risk reduced sales by making it more hardcore by making it proper survival horror.

All they really need to do is ditch the co-op and the Die Hard action scenes, IMO. Dead Space is an example that an over-the-shoulder TPS can still make a good horror game and be successful in sales.

The remake for Gamecube was god tier. Resident Evil 0 was also pretty nice.

^This.

There was nothing wrong with the core gameplay of Resi 5 as it is similar to 4 except that it was designed for co-op. This basically means less emphasis on single player stuff like tune-ups, unlockables, exploration, etc. and more on pure action. This is where Capcom took a wrong turn imo.

Also, it seems that with each game in the series, the matrix-esqe action is getting more and more ridiculous. The whole super-human thing with Wesker which started with CV and the over-the-top QTE battle scenes in 5 was a bit much for me, but then again maybe that's what the story writers had planned from the start. I dunno. It all just feels out of place in resident evil lore that supposedly only has zombies and monsters tbh. It's Resi, not f**king X-men.

EDIT> I forgot to add that.....

Wesker went down like a total bitch in resi 5. I always thought he was so cool and reserved and would remain that way until the very end, but resi 5 proved me wrong. The way he screamed, "CCCHHHHRIIIIIIIISSSSS!......AAARRRRGH!" was pretty pathetic. At the very least, Capcom should have given one of gamings coolest antagonists a more awesome death. Instead we got lame, out of character dialogue for Wesker's final farewell instead.

You can still do that stuff in co-op. Capcom just went the linear action game route. That was where they went wrong.

I did mention exploration, and all the other features were dumbed down so dramatically one might as well say it doesn't exist, including the inventory. That's what I meant.

I just want to say that your avatar makes me fall on the ground laughing.

I played up to RE 4, so I think I've played every iteration of 'Resident Evil' (every console version even) except 5. I liked them all, really. I really have no idea what RE6 might be like because I never played 5. But RE is one of Capcom's biggest games, so whatever was wrong with 5, I'm sure they will fix most of it. They need this series, and they need it to be a surefire hit.

If they make RE2 remake, might as well do the RE3, since that's my personal favorite.

They released RE2 and 3 for Gamecube. I'm unsure if they were remade like the first game though, with improved graphics and such.

I've played all the numbered resident evils (except for 0) and they're all really good. 5 might have been a big departure but it was an excellent co-op action game and the first part of the final boss fight was fantastic fun (the second part was a bit stupid though).

Nope. I have the entire collection on gamecube and they are pretty much direct ports. Although I'd say RE 2 would benefit more from a REmake than Nemesis because tbh, RE2's environments and textures look pretty washed out compared to Nemesis, (like the original RE) which I just played a while back and it's pre-rendered backgrounds are some of the best looking and most detailed in the original PSX series. Probably the closest to REmake and RE 0. The only things that could improve are the character models and other 3D stuff like the fires which still look pretty pixelated.

Also, I have a question that's been nagging me while we're on the subject. Is it just me or does the original RE:CV on dreamcast look better than the PS2 CVX version? I got that one a while back and it's graphics aren't even remotely as good as the dreamcast version. It looked more like an early PSX 3D game tbh.

Makes me wish I hadn't sold my dreamcast. *sigh*

I think almost every Resi fan wants that. Remake was exceptional.
Amen. Arguably one of the best in the series fs, if not THE best.

...and in Samon's defence, fans need to stop being so apathetic and rise up to mainstream fads before more of our treasured masterpieces get desecrated.

by doing what? even if we dont buy re6 the ****ing unwashed masses will :(

e-mail/spam bomb Capcom's web servers with hate mail at the slightest hint that RE6 will be anything like RE5.

RE4's single player formula is fine with me though, but I'd prefer a REmake style resi over anything.
