Capital Punishment

The use of capital punishment needs to be expanded. Rape and child molestation need to be punishable by death again.

and for the criminal under lock and key crap........ have ya ever heard of escape? have you ever heard of criminals on death row escaping and committing further murders? If they're dead they get to hurt no one ever again, as it should be.

Pay per view fight to the death gladiator matches would be the shiznit.

"-Families of victims can "relax" after the criminal is dead."

That is not true, revenge is not good for your mental health, forgiveness is supposed to be the most healthy option. Besides why should more blood be spilled on a murders account. Why make more death come from a tradegy.

I don’t think we should kill a man that wants to kill you instantly, just torture him for 500 hours. Then kill him.

Something like this?

And nobody is wrongly convicted? Or deserves to be heard out ?

Looks like he is ready to escape any moment.

Capital punishment clearly deterred these people.....yeah right.

Lock them up and throw away the key is a far better punishment.
For murderers there should be no future, no hope. And certainly not the quick way out

Yes, but the "quick way out" is more economically sound- and it offers no future or hope. Well... once upon a time. These days the appeal process and all the evident bureaucracy makes one execution more expensive than a lifetime behind bars.

Beats me why that's the case, mind. I just see death as the ultimate deterrant to serial offenders, who are the only people I believe to be beyond rehabiliation anyway.

There are some crimes for which death is the only truly just punishment. In Australia for example, we have the ludicrous situation that if I kill a person, one person, in a domestic dispute, I get life in prison. If however, I smuggle a nuclear device into Sydney, and detonate it in the CBD, and kill 2 million people, I still only get life. Even if the police would probably shoot me when they arrested me. In theory, the punishment is the same. And thats wrong.

Certain crimes, (not 'simple manslaugter') I believe warrant the death penalty. I would also extend it to serial pedaphiles.

In putting together such a system, the state must be conscious of mthe fact that there are those humans in our society, whose only good act that they will do in their life is to cease living. This is not most criminals, or even a significant majority. Just some.

And for a serial killer to live out his days in isolation at taxpayers expense, with medical treatment paid for, for life - is itself is unjust. That serial killer should be gunned down like the dog he is. It should at least be a sentencing option for judges.

I have no idea, and I am having trouble finding out why the death penalty was removed. i suspect it was the whole hippy peace movement thing in the 60s and 70s. The last man executed in Australia was Ronald Ryan, and he frankly should not have been. Ronald Ryan shot a prison guard during an escape attempt. The reason he did was that the prison guard had caught one of his escape partners and was bashing him to death with a truncheon. But in those days, this was all lost on the state and jury and judges. I think had the case been run today, Ryan would have not been sentenced to death, and perhaps would have been found not guilty for using a firearm in the defence of another lawfully.

So even if the death penalty is re-introduced - the legislation needs to be well written so it is only extended to the worst of the worst. But no death penalty, is a mistake.

If people rape, murder, shag kids, they diserve to be killed.
