Counterfeit chips have long been a problem for casinos.
Some people see casino chip counterfeighting an easy alternative to that of currency
Counterfeighting but over the year things have changed and some people
don’t realise the small plastic chip is much more advanced than
What meets the eye.
Let’s take a look at a few common security techniques which are embedded into those little pieces of plastic.
UV/Infa-Red markings - Casino chips can be marked with special logos or writing.
This is only viewable in UV or infa red light.
RFID Tags - Small computer chip like sensors that are embedded into the chips…
Which makes counterfeighting much harder and allows staff with tag readers to
Spot them and stop other security flaws like staff stealing them.
Weight – The chips are very likely to have a specific weight which is known to a casher and my bet is that it is checked when your are cashing them, this makes replicating the chips much harder as you will need to have the right size and also the right weight so getting the right plastic will come into play.
Engravings – Different casinos will have different different designs with different textures and engravings and a trained cashier wouldn’t have much problem spotting a fake by feeling or looking at it. Also as different casinos have different style chips, you will need to make a few molds to suit a few of them as using one type in the same casino will get your ass caught soon enough.
Colours – It has also come to light that a few casinos use alternating colours on there chips instead of the old days where they were just one single colour, this makes molding unimaginably harder and will bring up a lot of problems so it would be best to avoid those type of casinos.
A quote taken from the SC archive regarding casino security.
I worked in the casinos for 6 years. I have played them for 12. When they suspect a cheat #1 they start having a pit boss watch you. #2 those cameras that are all over the place now are important. Until they are told to watch a player there is a good chance it is just being taped. If nothing happens the tape sits until destroyed. If the pit boss has called on you, then the vid cam is being watched live. Ok now look around at all the plastic plaques all over the casinos. They read any gaming employee has the right to detain you until proper authorities arrive.
This means even the house keeper can go after you if you run. They won't, often in the smaller joints the security is all uniformed and more interested in watching the hookers. yet they will gladly tackle you when you run. they live for that stuff.
Now you are hand cuffed and taken to the security office. They might or might now beat on you. Pretty good case a few years ago where they forgot to turn of the camera, and they had security and metro beating a change thief half to death. After metro comes in, then you meet the gaming cops. They are essentially the KGB of Nevada.
They have all the power you can imagine. They are trained in all the cheats, fakes, and they love their job. These guys hold your fate. If you piss them off you will find that every gambling cheat is a felony. Every attempt to steal from a casino is a felony. Metro doesn't go after murder, they help go after gaming cheats. In the nice joints the security is under cover, if you want to call football players in jackets under cover. The only good thing is that casinos don't like gunplay, so they probablly won't shoot at you.
A few years back, casinos were being hit by South Central gangs, they jumped into the cage and made off with the money. Well everyone of those guys were caught within 2 years.
Casinos are also notorious for going after people who don't pay their markers. Some are in trouble for going to South Korea, and threatening players who didn't pay. This is against the Korean Law. They still do it. Enough money and they buy their justice. They only successful things against casinos have been inside jobs.
Some security personeel at Ceasars Palace made off with a fully loaded money cart, no one know who though. In the past 10 years twice the people in armored cars have left with the car. One group ended up dead in Mexico, under suspicious circumstances. The other got clean away. One crew in town decided to go wild west. They hit 4 casinos and an armored car depot for ATM loaders. 1 guy is alive to go to jail for life. They fired back and killed a few in their fun, but the fact they hit the casinos is why they were exterminated. So anyone wanting to try to scam the casinos just consider what I remember. I don't screw with them. Not enough profit for the risk.
