Dogs all the way for me. Maybe I'm just biased because my cat is a ravenous, man-eating beast, but dogs seem to actually care about their family, whereas cats are just in it for the food and a warm lap. Dogs are "tuned into" humans - they'll get excited when you get excited, they can read your emotions, and all that good stuff. Cats are just bored.

The cool thing about CAT VS HUMAN fights is that they are so ****ing awesome.
I love this man.

YES, my vote makes it 25/24 to dogs.

Dogs are just plain ace. Cats aren't an animal that have much time for humans at all. For all the affection and interaction you get out of them, many cats are like planks of wood - planks of wood that hate you and produce excrement.

You don't get the same sense of loyalty and conscientiousness from a cat either, even if if does show you affection. A dog will get depressed when you go out and tear up the place because its lonely - then sit there in the dark waiting for you with its ears flat and tail curled because it knows it's been bad. Also, you can just plain communicate better with a dog, if you care to - just make eye contact and make a noise and the dog will understand instantly whether you want to chuck him around playfully, to walk him, to feed him, or to kick 7 shades out of him. Cats only give a crap when you pick up the food tin. Licking your face when you're down, always happy to see you, loyalty, unconditional affection...no contest. Humans basically made dogs the animal they are through 1000's of years of intimate coexistence, so I figure it's respectful, too, for us to acknowledge how dependent we've made them upon us.

Having said that, my cat is cool. He turned up on our doorstep about 8 years back in the rain at 3am, and just refused to leave after darting inside. We never ever bothered to name him. He does nothing but go out, come back covered in blood and then fall asleep, but he's pretty passive around the house. He used to sleep through getting raped by my dog, and acted kind of confused for a while after my dog died. Probably wondering where all the sex went. No substitute for any kind of dog though.

Cat's are fun in there own way. Much different than a dog. When a cat is trying to claw your hand playfully it's fun.

Dog's are loyal and i'd say smarter. Dog's are more active animals. Fun it it's own way. Playing catch is great and tug of war is also awesome.

There both good in there own ways. I love playing with my cat's though. When they grab my hand, then I jerk it quick and they try and go for it. They get there teeth on my hand, but wont actually bite it. Very playful animals.

I cannot choose between them.

I like dogs AND cats, but I am allergic to cats... so I vote dogs! Plus they are more loyal.

**** dogs. They don't know how to be CALM for 20 minutes.

Little shits.

Then your dog must be hyper or something (too much cofee:cheese: )

My dog spends about 60% of the day sleeping.

All you have to do is play with your dog for a half-hour, and then it'll be tired and sleep for 3 hours..

Lazy people with animals. Pisses me off.

Big dogs are good because they are less hyper and die faster if you get tired of them.

Cats.
My cat can survive in the wilds.
We used to have 2, but one went all Guerilla and became an alley cat.
The other one just wants me to pet her all day long. :)
My dog is crazy.
Puppy.
Runs around too much.
Takes up a valuable 3ft^2 in my back yard.

Cats by a mile.

Dogs are smelly, needy, irritating and always needs attention. Cats can make it on their own. I can respect cats, but not dogs.

Dogs. Definately dogs. You don't see cats saving people from fires.

I like rats more than cats and dogs.

CATS! :D

That makes it 43 to 42. Soooooooooo close, never seen a split poll like this ever.
