me too, my mates dad said this and he lives here and valve said this, blah blah blah, utter lies.

He's full of crap anyway. Wasn't it said that HL 2 will be released SIMUTANLEOUSLY on both STEAM and Retail? Sept 20th and Oct. 12th are nearly 3 weeks apart. That's a lie.

doesnt really matter what some kid says at another forum, we'll just have to wait until it is annouced as being gold wheather it be tonight or next week

well i hope its true, but i dont think it could be gold this fast...testing takes a while

yea dont they have to play through the game first and then give the results, unless they got it early yeaterday, played all day and today and they have like 5-10 guys testing it then yea i would say gold or maybe they have a program that they run the game on and if it spots something unnormal then it reports it

Note, Vivendi is not testing content they are testing compatibility. They are installing it on multiple machines of multiple configurations and trying to discover hardware conflicts and issues. The content was tested by Valve.

I bet cbs releases a seriese of documents from valve supposedly printed in 1972, which use superscript and formating only vailable in ms-word. Then they lie about it, compromising their integrity further. Then dan rather kicks a puppy.

Best post ever.

Anything other than info coming from Valve = speculation/lies/crap-tastic.

As Valve has stated before, once the game goes gold, we WILL know. Hopefully that wait won't be much longer now.........

Ahahahahah good one man.

he's full of crap. Look at what he last said....

Multi has 7 modes up to 128 players, $5.95 per month to play

BS anyone?

I think we all know cbs just draws its news out of a hat...

a hat of LIES!

What I like about these situations is when there is so much opposition but it turns out to be true. I am quietly hoping that something is actually happening so I can see everyone on this topic go quiet for a while...

It's not bro, he totally lost his credibility when he started saying stuff like It will be released for those who have Steam on 9/20, and retail which is 10/12; yet both Steam + Retail will be released simutaneously when it IS released. Then he goes on saying that Valve will charge $5.95 per month for Multiplayer, supports up to 128 players, etc. He totally lost all his credibility.

yup definatly fake. The subscription thing was ment for being able to download any game they make or maked forever (as long as you keep paying the monthly fee). That doesnt mean you have to play for multiplayer. Even though that is old, i think they scrapped that idea anyhow.

something is leading me to believe this guy. idk what it is, but i believe him for some reason.

If this is true it will be the first time a videogame company gave a live TV press conference outside of E3. Game companies just don't do that.

In other words: Not true.

Since when did CBS start covering video games in any manner other than how they relate to school shootings?

http://www.hl2fallout.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6619

I'm surprised this all passed you by. Someone has already emailed Gabe and confirmed this story is a fake. Just check down the page in that link.

Now one of you kind people who have a Gamespot forum account, please go and shut that stupid kid spreading implausible bs down with the above link. ;)

Though I don't believe this guy, but I would like to remind you that CNN Money had a number of story's on Half Life 2 including a preview in April of 03 (when the game was anounced).

CNN Money is not CBS.

Also CBS is a very bad place to get your news. They have lost all credibility after this recent scandal that they tried to pin on George W.

However, it has been thoroughly entertaining to watch Dan Rather's "distinguished" career go down in a blaze of glory.

I live in Valve's office. The break room. I hollowed out the wall behind the snack machine. Pretty cramped, but there's free food. I can only go out at night, though - when they're not there...

And I can tell you, the game HAS gone gold. Also, they're outta kitkats...

anyway, valve is not the one who will have the final word in a gold status...

How could they announce it gold if the RC was just sent, if going gold is what this press release is about.
Forgive me if I'm worng, but: Both of those statements are utter bollocks, correct?

Vivendi determines whether the game goes Gold or not, because they control manufacturing. This is what the whole RC process is about. Valve have no say in when it goes Gold, they simply make the changes Vivendi wants (if there are any).

Most likely there wont be any changes vivendi wants from a tech standpoint, the only reason it could get delayed now would have to do with the holiday season and what else is coming out around the same time.
