These are a UK company and i was wondering what experiences people have had with them. I was telling someone about the price of a gfx card on IRC and when i mentioned that it was cclcomputers that was selling it, IchI told me that they were not very good to deal with and that they sell faulty components.

I did a search for reviews and they came back mixed to be honest. In the minority were people who have had a horrendous time with them, but these reviews are dated from as far back as 2001 and the most recent is August 2003. They also seemed to have ordered components individually (i.e. did not buy a whole system).

Anyhoo, i was wondering what experiences people have had with them, and if they would recommend them to me?

Failing that, can anyone find me the cheapest for:

XP 2800+ (RTL)
1 gig of PC2700 ram (2x512 sticks)
A7N8X-X mobo
120gig HDD (8MB cache, 7200rpm)
52x 32x 52x CD-RW (Black)
16x DVD-ROM (Black)
Floppy drive (Black)
17" monitor (Black)

I would much prefer it off one site, thats one thing i liked CCL for, they had everything i wanted, and also they would construct and test the system with one of their own HDDs.

Thanks a lot :)

first stop for you would be www.computerprices.co.uk and compare prices for all those components. chances are you'll get komplett and dabs. my advice is to buy from ebuyer, they're by far the most reliable and easiest to deal with (even though you can never get through to their helpline). www.ebuyer.co.uk

EDIT: just thought i'd be a pest :)

XP 2800+ (RTL)
1 gig of PC2700 ram (2x512 sticks)
A7N8X-X mobo - same as mine, top stuff.
120gig HDD (8MB cache, 7200rpm) - consider a 200GB, worth the upgrade.
52x 32x 52x CD-RW (Black)
16x DVD-ROM (Black) - considered a DVD writer?
Floppy drive (Black) - only if you really need one.
17" monitor (Black) - what?! go for a 19" unless this is a flatscreen? you can get a 19" Iiyama for around a hundred.

anyway that's a real killer system you've got there. you gonna stick with the onboard sound or not? how about a graphics card?

I shop with CCL all the time, so far *touch wood* its been ok, I even f****d them about a bit once and they were still polite and professional.. Just make sure you order over the phone before you go there or you can be waiting hours.. I dunno about online ordering I don't use that even though it would save me a few quid.

They don't just take your order either, you can have a laugh with them or get advice while your ordering, kinda cool to talk to humans on the other end

I've heard good things about them from other people, and as i said the negative comments were from quite a while ago so they may have changed their attitude/could have just been bad luck. Another problem people had was communication (e-mails and stuff), but i sent them one on Sunday morning, got a reply Moday morning so that was nice!

And i really wanna shop with them cos the system assembly for £30 will allow me just to get on and play on my birthday!

I plan on putting the order in at least a month and a half before the day (just to cover my arse), so if any problems do arise then that should give me ample time to sort them :)

I've bought 100s of pounds worth of goods from CCL and the only dodgy component I got was a 20 quid PSU. They're good as far as OEM dealers go.

I got my whole system from CCL, including upgrades... they are cheap, everything was brand new (or OEM that appeared brand new anyway) and all works fine so I can't complain.

They are also some of the cheapest around, convenient they are only a short drive away.

u didnt get that case panel from ccl tho did you tho u ponce  bet kc's glad they arent in bloody manchester cos that would piss him off.

Case panel? does that even count. Thats cosmetic!!! Plus most of the upgrades I had delivered, I think ive only been to CCL with KC once or twice for my own stuff... went once for your stuff (CPU i think) and once or twice for his PC... anyway, its all good.
