CD-key authentication fix (I think, plz sticky if it works)

K, I think I have a fix for the CD-key authentication problem. I haven't tested it yet though because I can't get onto steam atm. Well, here yah go anyway:

First off, if you're like me, your going to feel VERY stupid for about 30 seconds. It's ok, let it all out right now.

On your CD-key sticker there should be two lines of digits and letters. Something like this:

xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
s7160880 Halflife 2

Alrighty, I'm not sure if that bottom line is the same for everyone, but the two CD-keys I've seen, that line was the same. Here's the solve: That bottom line that says "Halflife 2"? DON'T PUT IN ANY OF THE NUMBERS ON THAT LINE. It's not part of the CD-key! Only enter the top line of digits!

Hope this solves one of the many problems with this game for people.

i cant register either keeps saying server is too busy.
it said i can play hl2 in the mean time put registration still pending.

same here. it makes no sense; it says you can play HL² in the meantime but the registration is still pending... well, that doesn't do me any good whatsoever when i cannot play in the meantime until the CD key has been registered!!! AGH!! i'm having a bad day...

I just had a friend that had the same exact problem....Only type in the first 5 groups of characters only.
