Hi. I have some movies here and they r bigger then 700mb and when i zip it up, it doesnt seem to fit on the CD-R 700mb CDs.(And ive never seen a CD-R cd which is 800mb or more...)

My question is...

Is it possible to zip the files up and place them on the 3.7 gig DVD-R cds?

Yes easily. It all depends if your files (ADDED TOGETHER) is less than 3.7 gb.

You should be. I don't see any real problem there.

What program are you using to burn the movies with?

I think that one. I am not sure. I do not have a DVD Burner to actually tell you which to choose. Do you have a separate drive? Like 1 is a DVD RW/CD RW and one is a DVD player or what?

Use the one that says DVD+RW 4X4X12 don't use eitehr of the Image Recorders I never really figured out what they're there for but the DVD+RW is your DVD burner.

He is asking which of the two choices under the DVD RW though.

Next to them they say, [DVD] and another says [CD-RW/R].

I have a CD drive(which burns cds, dvd, e.t.c) on my computer and underneath i have a DVD drive which is "ONLY" for watching DVDs

You can get CDR'S that allow upto 900mb, but it depends whether your DVD RW will support them.

i would say go to the properties of you dvd burner and find out if it is a dvd+ burner or a dvd- burner unless you already know, and click on the option that applys.

heh my plextor DVD-RW 712A does gigarec, records 1gb to a 700mb CD :D:D dont ask me how but it does

Image backups on drives. Except, 99.99999% of people have zero use for them.

Nero has a section which tells you your drive info. Go looking for it somewhere in the program (as an option-type menu, cept nothing is selectable) or the program folder.

Everest Home is a useful program also:

I think there is an option on most burners like this, Its called overburn, Apparently there is enough space to add about 100mb of data when using overburn.
Your recorder, may compress the files in some way, because I can't see how it would be normally possible to write 1gb of data on a 700mb disc, Since even using overburn there is an element of risk, that It won't record properly without errors.
So your writer must use some sort of compression technology to enable the 1gb burn.
