Physics card maker AEGIA has announced that CellFactor: Revolution, the five level multiplayer shooter from developers Artificial Studios, Immersion Games and Timeline Interactive will be released for free via download on May 8. Here is a snip:

While part of the game is playable without the AGEIA? PhysX processor, those that the have PhysX accelerator will have access to the complete experience with noticeable gameplay benefits. The game will automatically detect players with a PhysX card, offering them the option to progress through the single-player campaign mode that includes three ?extreme PhysX? levels. PhysX users can also challenge humans and AI-enemies in four LAN-based multiplayer modes. Gamers who do not have a PhysX processor will be able to fight artificial-intelligent controlled enemies in the multiplayer ?skirmish? modes, in two environments.

here's an idea: charge the regular price of $49.99 for the game but include the Physx card ..I'll buy it ..otherwise no thanks

and Lan based multiplayer? welcome to the early 90's

Cool, I agree. Include the Physx card and I would buy this game.

Actually, scratch that. Include it withCrysis and I would buy it. I'd be willing to pay a little extra too if it came with the card. Say $20-30 more, but only if this was a Crysis pack.

Yeah I read about this in PC gamer I think or games for windows. There releasing another game like Cellfactor which is the same principle. Free online game, cept you need to have that card to really be able to play it :/

you have a physX card Gorgon, will you play?

nah m8, the card is worthless, unless there are a dozen of popular games going to support this card I don't see any reason for owning one.

I could have sworn you said you bought one awhile back ..anyways I agree ..not worth it

It would be worth it if it really would take the heavy load that a bunch of upcoming games will lay on my CPU off of my CPU. Alan Wake will supposedly not even run on a single-core processor so if a PPU could somehow manage the complicated calculations of the physics and such then that would be a great way to avoid upgrading the mobo/cpu combo which I should probably just suck it up and do anyway...:(

i laugh at all the people who bought physx cards. It probably wont come into play for a VERY long time, if not ever.

I knew this was coming, ill probably pick up the card once the price goes down, or we see more games using it. UT3 will be so well see to what extent.

I'm assuming you have a amd socket 939 motherboard? if so you can get a dual core for less than a physx card ..they're no longer made but you should be able to find a cheap used 3800x2/4200x2/4400x2 starting at around $100 to no more than $200 ..I went from a 3700 to a 4200x2 and it's a world of difference in certain tasks

Would that this were true but alas it is not. I have no such motherboard and will experience great difficulty when and if I decide to upgrade to dual-core or more!!

well if that's the case you're probably better off starting from scratch ..start saving your sheckles i expect to see you in AoC at release (oct 31) :)

How are the physics being used? Again just a million boxes or are there dynamically destructible environments this time?

Well, atleast they're making it freeware.

That is the very idea.

Well, that and Crysis of course. :O

$15 says the 'non-PhysX' cards will be modded to be played by anyone (With a decent enough PC).
