I think we should nto have sensors. For example people ahve teh right to say the F word, sure its a bad word, but on forums we can express ourselves or try and if we are not allowed to have the F word without having asteriks there, it ruins this feature of expressing yourself. \

I think we shoudlnt have it. people shouldnt abuse the word or use it wrongly, but seriosuly its wrong to censor it.

And if u give me the excuse about there being small kids here, well

1. They are here and thats that. They will read it and anyways, its the poster's opinion so they cant get amd and 2...

2. It's not like they dont hear it at school or on the streets everyday...

instead of the f-word, people just use swear words because of a lack of vocabulary. They can't articulate what they are trying to say so they just blurt out these other words that they hope will get their message across.

the mod was right...swearing is stupid anyways...i work with a bunch of people that swear, and its hard not to becuase they always say the f-word after every 2 words...it really does make them stupid.

I believe that profanity should be censored, but there should be options. Such as, be allowed to highlight the asterisks (***) and the word will appear. Kind of like a spoiler tag but without the spoiler tags.

If I say ****. You don't know what I just typed. You just know that it was a "bad" word. Thereby highlighting the asterisks would reveal the word. Got it?

Not like I'd use it all teh time but just that if i do use it, I would liek people to know my opinion on the matter/subject of the thread. There are times where the F word would infact make sense sometimes. I'm sure we ALL know that.

Take your potty mouth elsewhere if you must you use it. The internet is full of troglodytes attempting to compensate for whatever shortcomings make them feel better about spewing forth obscenities. You can find one of those places easily enough.

If you are so concerned about the state of humanity, then do your part to improve it, and that means a mandate not to appeal to the lowest common denominator. As humans, we do an awful lot to hamstring our own evolution, and I think this is a fine time for you join ranks and pitch in towards the altruistic goal of setting a higher standard and serving as an example to your peers.

One man cannot change the world, but he can effect transformation in the thinking of those around him, leading to an entropic effect of better minds and greater accomplishments.

To conclude my point, a hypothetical:

When considering the education of your children, would you prefer more posts like this one, or more like "OMGZ F***ER! HALO2 1S TEH SH!T!!!!!!!!".

Many other forums are irritating to read because you have to read past all the swearing anyway. This ways much better.


Hell if you really really feel the need to swear at something on these forums then go ahead. We still see the *'s and know what you mean. We know you're angry. So why do you want the individual words. Its not like you will be using them because of what they actually mean in the dictionary...

I don't mind the filters. If for whatever reason I feel the need to say "**** this" (yes I know, one should be able to express himself without it but blah) the four asterisks express my annoyance just as effectively as the word they replace because everyone knows they replace a swearword.

I really don't see the neccesity for using swear words. I had somebody tell me once that the only reason you swear is because you are insecure.

Everyone always says that, i have a very large vocabulary and i swear. I know people who have even bigger vocabularys and they swear more than me. Its not because of lack of vocabulary its just another way of expressing anger or what you think about "x"

I dont think we need to unblock the f word.
