Where are my centrist brothers and sisters? The bastard children of the left and right wing :)

I think we are the ultimate flipfloppers :naughty:

P.S. I just made up the name centrist, is that really the name of the center of the political spectrum?

I'm certainly a fairly moderate person, although I don't know if I'd ever call myself a moderate. My technology-minded views are pretty darned liberal.
 
Being Centrist doesn't mean you're a flip flopper, it means you can understand the points, opinions, good things and bad things wrong with both the left and the right.
 
That means you're either a centrist or a hermit. :D
 
I'd say im a hermit, i agree and disagree with all sorts on both sides. Neither accomodates my values completely.

It is impossible to be "right, left or centre"
There is no way that the views can be opposite or oppose each other, a stupid concept that holds back politics and makes me think humans are even more stupid.

Actually I agree with you, I don't tie myself to a political wing, I base my views on my own morals and values of life, judged by noone else.
So I may have views correlating to the "left" and "right", but I'm neither.

Some would say I'm a centrist for that reason, but there you go.

I don't like being categorised though, you get tied to stigma that way, and people assume you agree with set in stone things.

Call yourself whatever you want to call yourself, you are still useless to politicians. Your beliefs differ from the left and the rights? That means you are like every other person in the god damn country. When you stand in the voting booth and need to pick a side, that’s when it matters. The third parties are not getting elected, so your thrown away vote is also useless. Go ahead, have libertarian/communist/moderate/green/reform ideas. But for the love of god pick a side with a chance to win.

No, you're reading too much into that. Without a definite side, we vote for who we find best regardless of affiliation because we have to (theres no real "moderate" party). Whereas a Republican is much more likely to simply vote Republican no matter what. It doesn't mean that all Republicans (or Democrats) do this, but it certainly is a major trend.
 
Why choose a lesser of two evils when you don't have to choose at all? :D
 
Because a lesser evil might just mean the line between getting thrown in jail and getting a ticket. :D

I wish I could run in 08.. :D

I would get all the southern states to vote for me due to me being a redneck and I would get all the west coast states because I would legalize weed...then the yankees...well who cares?

I take political views that are both extreme left and right, then most of my other views are dead centre. So I guess you could call me centrist.
 
Well, Liberalism is right-wing here, socialism is left-wing, and I'm actually a centrist, from a Swedish point of view, but from an american point of view, I guess I'm pretty left-wing.

Yeah, I used to know a few people like that, it was always kids who decided they wanted to do politics A-level (but then did badly).
