Changing to special resolutions

Hi,

I need to set the resolution of Half Life 2 in some strange resolutions to do some experiments.

First of all, I need to set it at 320x200, but the problem is that the smallest resolution available is 640x480. I have tried it writting into the command window -w 320 -h 200, but the only thing I get is an smaller window cutting the real scene, but the original resolution continues in 640 x480

The second thing I need is to stablich a bigger resolution than the availble in my monitor. For the example, the biggest resolution I can get it 1280 x 1024 but I wanted 1600 x 1200. I now that if I change the monitor to a bigger one I can get that, but I have to succed with the same. As equal as the first case I tried to force it in the same way. Another thing I tried is to play the game using the window mode and try to get a bigger window that doesn't fit into the screen.

Anybody, have any idea how can i get it.

It doesn't main if i can play with them using that resolutions, i only need to play some timedemo.

Thanks a lot to everybody who have read all these.

Thanks for your help.

I can't check it right now, because I am not in front the computer where I have instaled the half life.

But I have instaled it on my portable and it look good, the only problem I have seen than the smallest resolution I can get with it is 640x480, and if it is possible i need 320x200.

Anybody knows any other solution???

Thanks a lot

It's much more complicated than you need, but it has the feature to lower the resolution to 320x200 and to force it.

It's a powerful tool for ATi cards, obviously. If you use Nvidia, you should find similar software at the website above.

Thanks everybody.

I chanched my graphic card to a ati and I tried ati try tools.

It's fantastic, is what i am looking for.

The problem now is extrange. I set for example the resolution of my monitor to 320x200, but in the game options I can select that resolution because it doen't appear.

Any idea how can I solve that problem????????

Thanks a lot a another time

The game doesn't support 320x200, so don't expect it to have such an option in-game. You can force the resolution via another application but HL2 won't suddenly give you 320x200 among the resolutions you can choose from.

By the way, for NVidia graphic cards you can use RivaTuner.

Yep that resolution certainly is "special".

I'm curious, care to clue me in as to why you need to run HL2 at such a low res?

I would love to know the reason (or whatever you are doing in your experiment) as to why you want to change it to 320 x 200.
