I wonder if the major characters in Half-Life 2 will have more outfits than just one. I mean, the G-Man probably has a dozen of the same suit and Dr. Kleiner will always wear his labcoat, but does Dr. Mossman wear that same old white wool turtleneck year round or what?

I mean, the City 17 economy is definitely in the toilet, but surely it's not so bad that Alyx and Eli don't have at least one change of clothes to their name... is it?

The game takes place over the course of three days, during all of which they are probably hard at work, so I doubt they will be changing clothes.

Edit: Here's the quote where Doug says it's three days, in case you are wondering:

Eurogamer: Is it all set on one timeline or do you play around with the narrative?

Doug Lombardi: It's set over three consecutive days. You start at the beginning of day one and you end at the end of day three. That was sort of a design choice, obviously that focused up would be sort of a cool approach to take to stuff, and again it sort of allows us to be a little bit more deliberate with where some of the chapters and the things end. And it's sort of a good pacing thing, or at least that's our theory, that build the tension, build the action and have a little bit of a resolve and let the player take a breath and say 'ok, now... the next day... we begin'. That's our theory on that anyway - we'll see if it's worth anything after we ship.

Gordon isn't in the HEV suit all the time, right? I mean in that scene we saw with the Combine raiding the flat Gordon would have attracted a lot more attention if he was wearing a bright orange suit.

I think I have seen a picture of Alyx in a different get up then what she is wearing in the E3 vids.

yes you can also get gordon, in hawaiian t-shirt blue, or black latex with ball gag.

That was her old getup, they've changed it since

he should wear a well-tailored suit. professional.

Three days without a change of clothes? Eew. Hope they're washed at the end of each day.

Also, poor Gordon. He only seems to be active for three days every time he's called upon. Starts job at Black Mesa, works for: three days. Wakes up ten years later in City 17, fights Combine for: three days.

oh! thanks for the correction. Now that I do remember I saw that pic a while back. I like the new outfit better.

Also, how long (in game time ie when he got to work to when he gets to xen) was Half Life.

it would be cool to choose your outfits o_O
like GTA: VC

I think that gordon is wearing one of those blue uniforms when he wakes up on the train.
After all, everyone else is in them.

What I've seen on E3 '04 movie it goes something like this:

Blue uniform -> Labcoat -> HEV suit

I think he always wears a HEV suit, maybe the charges are all gone and it has some tears in it, that might be why the combine stop him and take him into that room is his suspicious wardrobe.

:D Keep the wardrobe ideas roaming. Who knows what will happen with mods when Half Life 2 is out, hell you'd see mods creating characters dressed in Gangstuh attire. Imagine that, a Half Life 2 RAP MOD!! Or or a Half Life 2 meets GTA!!! OOOOOOHHH MAAAN!(TOO EXCITED)

That could be it, but no-one really seemed as surprised as they would if they were to see a guy in a bright orange robot costume wandering around.
The combines called him 'citizen', so I think he was dressed the same way as the rest of the folks.
Also, there was no HUD.

Well when he finally turns up at Eli's hes wearing his Hazard suit, cos Eil says its time he got out of it :)

I think he ment to get Gordon out the suit and in the labcoat.
Sorry my bad english... :stare:

Well, we don't know what point the scene with "Get you out of that HEV suit and into a lab coat" was... Maybe he'd found the HEV somewhere else, and had been using it to get to Eli's place...

Perhaps I am slow, but who stated it was 10 years later? It might make sense considering what the G-Man said in the opening E3 video...and what is happening to the world...but...

Anyone?

I thought I read somewhere that it was only 3 years?

If you are talking about time between BlackMesa and City 17, it is ten(10) long years. My source is really reliable, it is magazine Pelit from Finlad.

Yeah that would make more sense I guess - Alyx being 20+ and Eli saying you haven't changed a bit.

Only a girl or a gay guy would have started a thread like this :D

You get the HEV suit first @ kleiner's lab. then you travel with it from there to elis lab. And although Eli tells you to take it off and get a labcoat on, somehow I doubt that will ever happen (the facility is probably attacked or whatever)

battles with the group :: like a dress looking like lab guys bot not coat...
Battle Alone :: HEV Suite
Lab - Lab coat
C17 Work - Work Clothes
it changes for the place... but you can`t choose outfits

Or then there is couple puzzles to solve, and Meaby upgrade that physgun to manipulator?

I can see it now...

Day 1: Enter city 17. Discover Alien plot. Kill zombies/combine/headcrab. Go home. Have dinner. Put the washing machine on. Have a nice bath and listen to some music. Go to bed.

Day 2: Get up. Breakfast followed by picking something to wear....

"Hmm...orange was SO last season". *puts on blue HEV suit*

can anybody really really believes that a mild mannered scientist who never seen a gun in his life can kill a billion trained soldiers and powerfull alien beings?

First of all, what does that have to do with the topic? Secondly, Gordon had weapons training as part of his orientation when he got the job at Black Mesa. Remember the hazard course? Plus, the suit probably helped...autoaim, perhaps.

I never took note of Gordon not having the HUD in the videos. Though, there's an interesting question: how did Kleiner get the HEV suit? Is it Gordon's old HEV suit? And if it is...who took off Gordon's clothes? :x

The man was sleeping, for God's sake! That's just wrong. :frown:

Who IS Hordon Freeman? :p

Anyways, Gordon's suit wasn't one-of a kind. Looks like Kliener managed to smuggle one out of BM and tinker with it.

Or gave it to Alyx. She's supposed to be the mechanical genius.

Maybe they just found it... y'know... strange smell of ozone... a green flash and a buzz... a clunk from the dumpster outside... a dry chuckle... another green flash and buzz... then they go outside and find the HEV sitting in the bin...

Hey, the G-Man did say that Gordon had earned the right to keep the HEV...

I think I should be able to put Axyl in some hot hooker clothing and then pimp her on the streets to the combine until the resistance ladies comes and wants to join my pimpingempire. Dr. Breen will never know what struck him!

Maybe characters will sport different jackets or somethings (just a reskin) over the course of the three days in which the game takes place.
