Hey guys, my friend needs "a pixel shader 1.1" to play TF2, so im helping him get a DX9.0 card. Could you help me in finding the cheapest one possible?

UK prices only.

EDIT:
I've also checked his specs, and it says his processor is 1.66ghz. The minimum needed to play TF2 is 1.7
Will it still run?

EDIT 2:
If all else fails, is there any way he can un-register the game so he can get a refund from the store? (Doubt its possible)

It will the game even though the processor is lower, it will depend more on the vid card. What's the rest of his computer specs and should it be an AGP or PCI-X card?

chances are its agp or he doesnt even have a agp slot.

then again he never really said if it was a dual core chip or not. what type of proccesor is it? if its amd 64 then it will run perfect. if its a pentium non dual core then that will be a problem.

I say that if you can use it, then get the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. cheap efficient and actually DX10

I told him to read out exactly what it said on Control Panel > System, and then afterwards, asked him if there was any sign of X2 or dual and there wasn't.

I was looking at an AGP card. Just found out he only has 256mb ram aswell. I had memory problems with TF2 when I had 1gb (now 3gb) - I bet it wont even run on his.

Seeing as he doesn't want to spend ?50 on upgrades, I guess he'll just have to try getting a refund - which probably wont even work.

I would not recommend the 2600. If you're going to, you might as well go for the 3800 series.

If you want a cheap dx9 card, go for the ATi x1950Pro. It served me for several months before I could afford a faster card. And it plays TF2. Assuming the processor and memory can handle it.
