The Child's Play Charity, a gamer-focused toy drive organized by webcomic Penny Arcade, has reached $200,000 worth of donations. The charity, now in its third year, has expanded its reach to children's hospitals across the country, as well as a handful worldwide.

The donation so far includes 90 GameCubes, 95 PlayStation 2s, 79 Nintendo DSes, 153 Game Boy Advances of various types, 30 Xboxes, 26 LeapPads, 30 MP3 players, and 49 DVDs, on top of countless software, videos, and other toys. "Thank you for all the toys!" said Meghan D. Kelly, Director of the Child Life Program at The Children's
Hospital in New York. "Child's Play Charity is like a dream come true!"

Donations will continue to be accepted until the charity's close on December 20th. Penny Arcade will be hosting a charity dinner on December 13, at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. The dinner will include both silent and live auctions, and auction highlights include several Xbox 360 console and software bundles, iPod nanos customized with the Blizzard logo, Limited Edition Cels, tours of local developers Bungie and Wizards of the Coast, World of Warcraft collectibles, a year's supply of the guarana caffeine drink Bawls, an all expense-paid trip for two to the offices of CCP Games (maker of Eve Online) in Iceland, and an appearance in a Penny Arcade comic strip.

Tickets to the event will still be on sale until December 8th, for $100. More information on the Child's Play Charity can be found at its official website.

I love that whole story about PA vs. Jack Thompson, where Mr. Thompson refused to give the $10,000 to the people that made the mod which he described, so PA donated $10,000 to a charity. Yeah.
