Fair enough if it was an honest mistake but I can see where the parents are coming from. Having their kids watch something at home where they can (not saying they will) moderate it, as opposed to having them shown something they didn't ask for which is potentially offensive (although not frickin scarring, you prudes... but whatever) is different.

It depends on the context, as does any word in the English language.

Calling someone a slacker or dumb can be pretty damn offensive if used in the right (or wrong? You decide) context.

If someone calls me a dumb stupid Canuck I might get offended (not likely, but I could), depending on how it's said.

A few things to note. They only saw the first few minutes. I start a lot of movies in the day, so after running projectors for a year and a half this is the 3rd time I have screwed up like this, it happens when you only have a second or 2 to look at the title and then thread the movie. It doesn't help that I am dyslexic.

The parents over reacted. That is where their religion comes into play. They literally yelled at my manager and said their kids would be traumatized for life. Granted I did screw up, and what they saw was not appropriate for kids. I stopped the movie pretty quick so they werent exposed to it for long. These "kids" were around ages 10-14 anyways. They have heard and seen worse. I live in a middle class/upper class neighborhood so these kids have the HD advanced cable with millions of channels. Porn is too easy to get on these TVs and even on basic cable shows plenty of things deemed innapropriate.

The religion instills in the parents a purists attitude so they feel they need to shelter their kids. IMO I would rather my kids hear and see some of that stuff so they can understand it rather than when I am not around. It only messes with you when you dont understand what it is your seeing.

Not exactly. Just because they were Christian doesn't mean that they're vegetables who never watch TV. I don't think any parent would be happy if their kid saw clips from The Departed, especially at a young age.

I forgot that 10-14 yr olds were so precious. Granted it is only my assumption that it is due to their religion. However given the following information it is a logical assumption. I live in a predominately rich, white, hard core christian neighborhood. We have churches within eye sight of another. All christian churches too. The movie they were seeing was the biggest garbage to hit theaters this summer. Wathcing that movie is equivalent to being bukkaked with stupid. Therefor torturing yourself by watching that movie is a true testament to their faith.

I read it at wikipedia. He used to be catholic, but isn't anymore. But it's obvious in all of his films that those tradional christian values he was brought up with still mean a lot to him (hence the joke).
