I just got it and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I like the battling style alot more that FF. I am to where you meet Robo. The cause and effect parts are really cool too.

Any other fans?

One of the best games ever made imho. Awesome soundtrack too. Just wait til you get to Zeal ('nuff said). ;)

Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Good to see someone just now discovering the game, man what I would give to go back and play some games for the first time again :p

The entire game is outstanding. If you hadn't noticed my avatar is a picture of a Nu from the game :)

Ah, you haven't gotten to the fun part yet. ;)

It's definitely my favorite game ever. It's clever, refined, and just feels right.

I remember playing this a lot when I visited one of my friend's house back in the day. We'd play it all the time along Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore (particularly the latter).

So much win.

Great game. Played it on an emulator a while back >_>

Chrono Cross though? What is it like 33 possible characters you can get, and than theres like the freakin 15 endings or something? Yeah get the hell out of my office. Great game though.

A great game. Back in the day, they couldn't make a game with great graphics & so they made the story great. Sadly, that has changed 180 degrees it seems.

I have a folder here on my desktop that has like over 900 original NES Rom's. Been playing the original Final Fantasy quite a bit as of late. That and the original Dragon Warrior. I remember back in the very early 90's, like between 1990 & 1993, of getting up around 4:30am so I could play both those games a couple hours before I had to head off to High School...

The thing is, most of die hard Final Fantasy fanboys never heard of this game. One of the legendary RPG in the history of gaming industry. What the **** is FF7?

I'm probably one of the biggest Final Fantasy fans out there, and I know what Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross is!!

But anyway, Chorno Trigger is one of the best RPGs ever created, due to the unique battle system. Being able to use dual and even triple techs gave the game the "shake up" every round trip. And being able to do a New Game+ is just awesome. Finding different ways to defeat the game, getting new items...it's just great.

Then Chrono Cross was the PERFECT sequel. It may have taken a long time to throw it out, but it was refined, and an instant classic. I really don't want to say anything that will spoil this one, but the ending always gets me.....

Love it, but never finished it. I always get up to where you get the key to unlock all those chests "sealed by a mysterious force" and lose interest. The battle system gets a little taxing to repeat all the time I guess. Not the smoothest, even if it was one of the first non-random encounter ones.

Still, pretty awesome. Even though, as a rule, I freakin hate RPGs where they give the main character absolutely zero dialogue. OH, HOW IMMERSIVE, EVERYONE CAN READ MY MIND ALL OF A SUDDEN.

One of the secret endings, Chrono goes off yelling at everybody.

I laughed pretty hard at that one. And when you start getting to the end of the game, it gets so much more open ended...there are so many different things to do. I see why you get out of touch with the game. Story is winding up, everything is just to get the uber weapons, side quests, etc. Heck, I usually just use the time to go blow up the Black Omen a bunch of times. Those were fun.

Chrono Trigger (and Cross) were never released in Europe. That's one large problem there (true, neither were the NES / SNES originals of Final Fantasy 1 through 6 but not even the Playstation remake of Chrono Trigger made it here). Personally, I've played it on an emulator and got about to the point the topic opener describes. It's a good game, but it didn't grip me in the same way that Final Fantasy 6 did through the same means.

Wouldn't say no to a DS remake.

What the **** is FF7?
A game I purchased at a carboot sale for ?1 and will make a profit on. Oh, and a kind of tedious game with a good story and graphics that look like a plate full of arse.

I've beaten CT about 15 times or so, and it's my favorite SNES game definitely. Tons of memorable characters, environments, and an amazing soundtrack, plus its great storyline. God. Such a well-made game.

Anyway, Chrono Cross was incredible as well. I was much younger when it came out, probably 10-12, and the moment I started playing and seeing all these little CT references thrown in the game, I was in love. This game had such a wide-open playthrough it was ridiculous. Upon realizing the sheer amount of characters available to be unlocked, I remember going online at one of those standstills in the game when you can do just about anything, or continue on with the main mission, and I found a guide to unlock all the characters. One by one, I unlocked each character. Although most were useless in battles(Serge, Glenn, and that weird robot dude for the fscking WIN), it added so much more gameplay and cool little mini-stories that I loved so much from CT into this game.

Now I'm convinced to replay this game once again on my PS2. Thanks to this thread.

Just in case if you didn't know, it was a rhetorical question. The game's story was ok, not something people should go mother****ing crazy-ass ape-shit about.
