Chuck Norris says BIBLE IN SCHOOLS!!!

Bible in public schools? meh, who cares. Catholic schools don't even teach the Bible. It's good and all because it will give you a strong sense of fighting back. I know many will say it somehow will make you a Religious fanatic, but I can't see how.

As far as I care, they could teach the quaran in public schools. If I learn something from it, then good.

BREAKING NEWS

CNN:
Chuck Norris' status as "Hero of the Internet" has been revoked, millions weep; more at 11

And lone individual wonders why the number says 1-888 instead of 800. Anyway, if this turns you off Chuck, then lol @ you.

Whatever, Chuck. Nobody takes you seriously anyway. :p

I seriously don't get how this is an issue. Half the kids at my Catholic school aren't even Catholic and they read the Bible when (rarely) the school tels us to. It's not making them convert or anything, so who the hell cares? The only way you'd feel threatened by this is if you, like with the gay situation, were not secure in your religious beliefs.

Separation of Church and state? Government money isn't supposed to pay for religious education in any form or fashion. Besides why do you need the bible to learn how to fight back, why can't a teacher just reference real historical events were people stood up?

GG chuckie. you had a good run. Come on now boy. Time to go behind the woodpile.

Because, it's better to use something that people believe in. I wouldn't exactly use EVERY example from EVERY religious book. But there are a few to note. Saladin, Moses, etc. (Is salidin even in quran?)

And federal money always pays for religious things these days. Can't remember which, and being that it's 1:30 AM in the morning where I live, I'll check later on. (CAIR organization I think)

If they study it on the context of history, then good. Public school teaches about Moses and Saladin already anyhows though, so there isn't any need to expand in the first place.

Well, my catholic school teaches about the quran in religion class too. we're kind of taught how it's all inter-connected and how Muslims and jews are equal to Catholics and everyone should be loved etc etc.

Chuck Norris is so skilled with words that anything he says or does will always mean "I'm going to eat your babies".

/EDIT Portalz, that's retarded. Why reference fiction when you've got all these lovely facts here about standing up for what you believe in? :/

Moses and Saladin are not fiction. Sorry pal, alot of the historical figures in most religious books are real. Mohamed, also that dude I can't remember who was going to cut the kid in half to show who the real parent was, etc. I can't even think of anyone from the quran or Bible who are fictional. Maybe their stories are a tad fairytale from the test of time, but their characters were real.

So?

I can point to any historical fiction and say "These characters were real TEHREFORE YOU MUST RESPECT THESE BOOKS FOREVER" and you would all laugh me off the stage. Why is it different for the Koran, the Bible etc?

Besides, we're talking events, not characters.

Yeah, that makes very little sense. If they are historical figures, why not learn about them histroically instead of from a storybook?

And what's the difference? I'm talking about the major religious books. Moses and Saladin are very important historical figures. Both built/founded Empires that effect our world even today, eons after the Empire's death.

Also, I'm not talking about a complete coarse in Religious book studies. just the parts that have historic references. Which is essentially as it is now. I guess I'm arguing o keep it as is today.

Sleep time for me. I'll reply to anything in the morning.

[edit] Never mind, I skimmed your post but it turns out you came to the same conclusion that I did.

It's a real shame, you know. For all the revival his celebrity career has been granted by internet adoration, you think the least he could do in return is not be a shit-tard.

No suprises here. Didn't everybody already know he was a whacko?

There're no historical facts in the bible that can't be found in a better form in real history books.

I lost respect for Chuck Norris months ago when I read his comments on the internet phenomenon around him and he basically attributed God to his abilities and all that crap and thank god and yeah bleeeeeeh, it was like that moment when a childhood hero dies in your young heart broken eyes.

I wept, then my heart grew cold to him.

:imu:

And here I thought this would have at least 5 pages filled with Chuck Norris jokes. Ahh well.

Well, I guess the thread in general is a Chuck Norris joke. Nice..

and

"Crop circles are Chuck Norris's way of telling the world that sometimes corn needs to lie the f*ck down"

this is the ultimate Chuck Norris joke written by Chuck himself:

Alleged Chuck Norris Fact: "Chuck Norris' tears can cure cancer. Too bad he never cries. Ever."

Chuck Norris: There was a man whose tears could cure cancer or any other disease, including the real cause of all diseases ? sin. His blood did. His name was Jesus, not Chuck Norris.

If your soul needs healing, the prescription you need is not Chuck Norris' tears, it's Jesus' blood

and

Being more a student of the Wild West than the wild world of the Internet, I'm not quite sure what to make of the craze of "Chuck Norris Facts." It's quite surprising. I do know that boys will be boys, and I neither take offense nor take these things too seriously. I'm so grateful for my fans. Who knows, maybe these one liners will prompt some one to seek out the real facts about me and the beliefs that have shaped my life and my career.

While I have as much fun as anyone else reading and quoting them, let's face it, most "Chuck Norris Facts" describe someone with supernatural, superhuman powers. They're describing a superman character. And in the history of this planet, there has only been one real Superman. It's not me

steven segal??? ..actually he means Jesus, Jesus could drop kick Segal if he wanted to

So Chuck CAN actually heal diseases, all he needs to do is punch his way back in time and give Jesus a mean uppercut, collect the blood, go back, and Chuck has saved the day again.

It's not surprising... Chuck Norris is ultra conservative.

Heh. I heard that he once co-hosted Hannity and Colmes, filling in for Hannity on Fox News once.

Chuck Norris has never co-hosted anything, rather he allows other people to talk

Because it is the job of schools to teach students facts, not nonsensical garbage.

If students must learn about the bible, they should be taught facts about the bible in historical and cultural context, not be forced to read the book and learn lessons about its stories and characthers. And if they must learn about its stories and charachters, it must be taught as a work of literary fiction, not as a history book.

Anything else is official government endorsement of religion, which is illegal according to the supreme court. Either they teach every holy book for its religious and moral content (including the gospel of the flying spaghetti monster) or they teach none of them. The bible's place in school is as a piece of fiction and myth, and its value as a source of allusion and reference in western literature, or, if students should take a class on the religions, it should be used as a way of understanding the roots and traditions of christianity in context of all world religions.

agreed, the bible should be taught alongside aesop's fables or the iliad ..ancient mythology

Because it is the job of schools to teach students facts, not nonsensical garbage.

I think they should be taught the historical backgrounds of all religious books. The quran, that book the Buddhists follow. It will aid them in figuring out were all the problems come from, thus allowing them to make rational decisions.

I don't consider any part of any holy book fictional garbage, just facts told from their respected viewpoints.

When the jews build that time machine they've been working on, then we shall know the truth.

How can they all be facts.

Only Christians will go to heaven - Bible
