yes almost immediately (less than a few day) unless it's tightly wrapped ..is the tobacco brittle? touch the end does some of it flake off?

Yes the tobacco will go stale after only a few days, especially if the cigar isn't stored in a humidor or moist place. You should just buy new cigars. If you try smoking it, it'll probably taste like shit.

Depends how you smoke them. I tend to blow half a mouthful out and inhale the other.

And to be a technical bastard, no, they don't "go off". They taste like shit shortly after they are unwrapped, and will burn very very fast, because they are dry, but they arn't any more harmful than cigars normally are. If they have been stored in an air tight container, they may be ok.

Yeah, I do. I'm a pretty conscientious smoker, all things considered. I try to avoid walking by groups of people / take the less-beaten path if I'm smoking, in conversation I blow smoke away from other people, and I dispose of my cigarette butts properly. I also don't smoke inside if anyone has a problem with it and if someone is clearly not enjoying being around me while I'm smoking I'll walk 15 feet away and finish the cigarette.

Unless they're an ass about it, in which case I don't give a shit.

As far as cigars vs. cigarettes goes, I enjoy both. Cigars are definitely classier and more tasty, and a more refined smoking experience... but then, you can smoke cigarettes in a lot more situations and the casual smoke break is a fantastic social mechanism/catalyst.
