Citadel Area, Cant jump?

I just got off the 5 min long ride thinger and then they took all my guns and vaporized them, now I have the super power gravity gun but I cant jump, i got forward blow a few people away he talks blah blah, then after the second part that Breen talks to me at I dont know where the hell to go, theres a railing that I could jump over that goes to some big ass beam thing but I cant jump, am I supposed to beable to jump? is it bugged up or something or can I not just figure out where to go? help?

Wander around, you should find a place where you can see all the pods being taken around. Jump down onto the lower ledge, then walk forward a few metres and there will be a mini bridge [about 2 metres across] where two pods come, open up, close, then go away. When the pod on the OTHER SIDE [not the one that goes into the plasma generator thingy] opens, hit use on it, and sit back to enjoy the ride

If you approached the hexagonal platform, flip the switch and step there, it will go up.

Somehow it seems that doesn't help you... anyway, wandering around should get you there, I had no problems.

Yeah, there is a platform. It's fairly easy to spot, it's in a giant shaft. Hit whatever buttons you can find, and throw balls at people.

I just saw a thread with the exact same problem as me, but nobody seems to know why he cant jump either, I guess its a bug that we share heh

that IS a bug bro. i had it too but i improvised lol go rip one of them uber tv screens off a wall and set it up like a ramp on the railing. thats what i did and it worked :thumbs:

i just reloaded from a save before the first ride int he prisoner containter thing. then i could jump when i got to the part where i got the uber gravity gun

I had the same problem...

The only way I could fix it was by restarting the level.

This is a BUG. Loading a game didn't solve it, I had to restart the level (new game -> level 13).

I had the same problem, couldn't jump to get over the railing, I had to restart the whole level in a new game to fix, finished it now, pretty cool game.

Same happened to me but I used a cheat to get there, first time through no problem.

I had the exact same problem and yes you are supposed to jump there. Strange bug. I used noclip to hop over that and one other bit. Although it gets intensely annoying at the end. If you map d3_whateverpartitis then I found you could jump fine.

I'm still stuck with no jump too. Can some explain 'noclip' and how to do it ? I was told go to 'options>keyboard>advanced>~ and type in noclip'.

Problem is that doing above takes me to 2 boxes I can tick or untick:
1. Rapid weapon change
2. ~

There is no option to type anything and ticking/unticking either option does not enable me to 'walk through' the railing that is stopping me from proceeding futher [and I've tried making a ramp from the consoles off the wall which dosn't work because of their squarish shape which would still need jump command].

So exactly, how do I activate 'noclip' in THIS game ?

Go to options/keyboard/advanced then check the ~ box.
Load your game.
Hit the ~ while playing.
Type sv_cheats 1.
Load your game again (sv_cheats 1 won't take effect until you load again).
Hit the ~ again while playing.
Type in noclip.
Voila.
Type again to disable.

Just tear one of those breen terminals off the wall and use it as a ramp. I played the rest of the game without a jump key.
But it's quite a common bug, should be looked after.

Load your game again (sv_cheats 1 won't take effect until you load again).

I dont think its required that you reload the game anymore. I like how people improvised when they couldnt jump. Thats what makes this game great.

Yea, when I got the blue manipulator I tore the cage thing down that I fell from and used it as a weapon.
I carried it with me all the way and when I realized I couldn't jump over the railing, I used the cage as a ramp.

Hrm, I thought that the machine that confiscated your weaponry messed up the HEV suit, making it unable to jump. Because the rest of the game didn't require you to jump, with the exception of that railing, which is solved by creating a ramp.

Edit: Funny story to go along with this part of the game. When I get the blue gravity gun, and have to run through some combine groups, I would get shot up pretty badly. When I got to the railing, I had 1 hp, and 0 armor. The game auto-saved it,

and once you get over the ramp, there are a couple of combine that come around the corner, and at the top of the ramp. It took me like 15 tries to survive.

That's the one thing I hate about auto-save.
In HL, when you're going around a building that has marine snipers, the big grunt with the hornet gun, barbed wire, land-mines, etc, you have to crawl under some barbed wire to get to the next point. There is a sniper behind me, and I have <10hp. The autosave is RIGHT before the sniper shoots me, so it was load... dead... load... dead... load... dead. Sucked.

well hl2 autosaves often so you would just have to go back another step.
