Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Scott Brown, Project Leader and Head of Public Relations for a Half-Life 2 Modifcation called Clash of the Ages. I have come to you today in search of some much needed help for my modification. But before I get into all of the details of our needs, I would like to post some general informations about the modification.

Clash of the Ages is a revolutionary modification for the Half-Life 2 platform introducing a brand new approach to real-time strategies. The game centers in on five different ages, each respectively distinct from one another, based loosely on the history of the world dating as far back as the Medieval Age up to the Modern Age. Embarking on a journey through the eyes of one of the three different factions, among them the Grecko-Romans, the East Asians, and the Euro-Americans, the player faces challenges such as gathering resources, accomplishing missions, and conquering the enemy in order to evolve to the next age, bringing technology and considerable advancements, helping each faction into becoming victorious.

But Clash of the Ages is not about managing resources or sending dozens of troops fight enemies across usual RTS maps, it puts the player in the skin of the soldiers on the field, the engineers building the constructions, and the archers attacking their adversaries. This new concept makes game play far more interesting where tactics and military planning become important facets of the game, and where teamwork becomes an even more valued aspect of triumph.

Clash of the Ages offers a wide spectrum of new ideas, and a team with loads of talent. What defines CotA from any other modifications, is its unique perspective of bringing history to life, and its overall dedication at maintaining both quality and enjoyment to this exhilarating new concept.

If you would like to read our full design document, please go here.

Also, here is some media that the team has released over the time that the modification has been created.
.45 1911 Pistol
Howitzer Seige Weapon
Short Sword
VP70 Automatic Pistol
Yatagan Embroidered Sword

Also, here are some tunes that we have released within the past month.

Central Dogma : Redux
Horizon of Eternity
Souvenir de Chine
Untitled

As for the reason I have come to you today, I am in desperate need of Skinners and Animators. The person who is applying for the position must submit a full portfolio with renders of past works, and I summary of past works that you have done. If you fit the requirement for one of these spots, please send me an e-mail at [email protected].

Thank you for time, and have a nice day.

Only FIVE time periods from the 1200s to the 2000s? How did you manage that?

And I don't quite understand your concept. You say it's an RTS but it's an FPS too? You're going to have some camera problems.

You also have a rather large mistake on your design. Medival and Middle Ages are the exact same thing. I'd suggest replacing that with the Age of Exploration, which is pretty much from the 1500s to the late 1800s, so there'd be a wide range of weapons, from Arquebuses to short chamber Boxer Henry .45 rifles. So I'd suggest concentrate from the Revolutionary War to the beginnings of the late 19th century, so around the Zulu Wars.

I also don't really understand...what is the perspective? Is it similar to Savage? I assume it's Multiplayer... Will there be one "commander"? Will there be a hierarchy?

There will be no commander. The game itself is much like Rise of Nations, in the First Person shooter perspective. In some ways it is similar to Savage, but in some ways not.

The ages that we have set right now are ages that we thought where the most important, but we will of course be looking into re-development of some of these ages. For a footnote, Medieval and Middle Ages are not the same thing, because one adds alot more melee combat then the other.

Medieval Ages - 500-100
Middle Ages - 1000-1600
Renaissance Ages - 1600-1850
Industrial Ages - 1850-1960
Modern Ages - 1960-1999

Take a look at the design document, your questions are answered in there.

k well no offense but semi-auto pistol can take on a dude with like a short sword. And the howzer will blow them both up. Wont it be un evely matched?

I assume that Nations will advance together.

oh wait they advance? I though it was like , we have a midevel team vs modern.

Lol no. You advance through the ages. Starting at the earliest and advancing to the present day. Hence me saying that it is like RoN in FPS.

the 3 teams compete against each other to advance, almost like a race.
so if your team sucks, then you are screwed.
this is why team play is important.

calling the Middle Age the "Age of Exploration" is exactly what that is, its a name. it wont effect the gameplay and as it stands right now they are only working titles, we could and may very well make modifications to the document as time goes on.

Thanks,

You should really rename Medieval to Classical(since that's what it pretty much is, breaking into the early Medieval Ages) and Middle Ages to High Medieval Ages, since that's the Middle Ages with castles, knights, fiefs, and all that good stuff. And anything from the 1770s to the 1800s was NOT the Renaissance, from the 1820s to the early 1900s it was pretty much the Victorian Era. You should really have more ages. Or sub-ages or something.

Thanks for your input, Ben. We will take it into consideration. We are still looking for Skinners, and Animators.

lol @ dassbaba, he's very strict on territories and stuff. :p

What are you talking about..

I mean that at the time of that post, the name was still undecided. Now, the name is decided. Do you get that?

You mean that post?

Dassbaba posted that yesterday, and "Kingdom Lost" was revealed today.
