i personally loved 2 particular modifications,
one is from half life, and it was called rocket crowbar, if you have never played it, a simple descrition would be "insanity" but a more in detail one is that the weaponry would do new wild and wacky things, like the pistil shooting deadly giblets, or the rocket launcher spawning kliners that explode when they see you. a very fun mod escpecally after the "holograms" were added, wherein you could become just about any HL beast, and use thier powers. like the big momma's nut stomp.
the second mod i saw in serveral games, but its main, and most popular appearnce was in quake. it was known as Headhunters! a basic deathmatch mod, it allowed you to rack up points in a very diffrent way. On death, your head would roll off, (or pop off and leave a spactaular bloody trail to its locale) and your killer would scoop it up and place it on his "belt" Once you had some heads, you would either go to the opposing teams altar(ctf style) or one of the random spiked floor panels, and deposit your cache. And here is where the score twist came in, for your first head was worth 1 point the second head 2 points and so on, so 3 heads is worth 6 points,(1+2+3) but 5 heads is worth 15 points (1+2+3+4+5) making it a fragfest and a head scramble.
those are some mods i think would benefit from some hl2 showtime.
what are your favorite mods from games long past?
