I'm letting my brother-in-law use one of my PCs and I go over there once a month to clean that sucker out. Lot of dog hair in it and he smokes (thankfully not in that room otherwise it would be worse).

My father, who runs a computer repair shop. He has some come in INFESTED with cockroaches. Not even joking. He wraps up the computer in a trash bag, fills it with a can of RAID and ties it off then sets it to the side for a few days. Opens it up and sprays again and closes up. After a week he'll finally start working on it....unless something moves, then back in the bag.

I had to clean my sister in law's PC and there was dust caked on everything. a few blasts of the canned air, some gentle scrubbing and it looked brand new. it sickens me people don't realize that there are fans in these machines we spend so much money on. 10 minutes of your time once a year really won't hurt you

I'm the first to admit I'm pretty damn lazy but even I try to clean it out every couple of months.

I clean the vent on my fan whenever idle temp starts to hover around 50C.

this thread has inspired me to go home and clean the **** out of my pc, even if there isn't a significant amount of dust.

maybe i'll re-apply some thermal compound.

That's about how I am. I have a small paint brush next to my machine for fan cleaning purposes.
