First of all, is that going to be the tune for that level?? and if so do you like it?? I thought it was pretty cool.

I liked it. I've heard it at both E3 presentations, so I wonder where it's actually going to be used in the game. I doubt they'd use it twice.

I thought it was o.k.

I just hope there isn't music all the time. I like it better when there isn't any music when things are quiet. Then, you enter a new setting or something happens and the music starts.

Well, the trainstation didn't have any music (neither did the Gregori scene, or the Striders either I think), so there's a good sign for you. :)

I like it but it seems a bit loud, I'll probably turn the music down.

I liked the music too. Is it just me, of did anyone see 'shiny hands' during the video. I noticed this during the parts where Gordon is climbing onto the crane and getting into the crane's controls...

Also, did anyone notice the auto-aim at the beginning with the buggy? The crosshairs jumped to the targets.....

Yea i saw the shiny hands i thought that was gay! I really hope they swapped it out for a more "rubber" look texture cause sometimes "shinyness" doesn't always equal "prettier".

The music was okay... i just hope they do the music like they did in HL1, only comes on in certrain sequences to add to the atomosphere, that worked well IMO

There isn't music all the time, its like HL1, comes when when appropriate, the volume is also configurable, about 25% in the menu seems to be a good level.

You speak the truth.
He has polished Gloves :)

I dind't go WOW on the music part.. I'll probobly turn music OFF to get a More realistic feeling.. but the music was ok i guess..

And when the combine flew through the air.. Was it Moon-gravity??
hmm... i liked the screams of those soldiers when gordon fired a grenade at them.

Now, what i dont like is the area in the coast bink.
It looks so.. i dont know.. i just didn't lke it.. thats all :p

I enjoyed it. It gave me the "adrenaline rush" feeling making me survive, yet be quick!....iunno \= havn't played hte game, so we'll find out when it comes out :D

Half-Life had auto aim, so I would've expected it to be in Half-Life 2.

I don't see a problem with shiny gloves, it depends what they are made of, really. I've seen people with shiny leather gloves in real life, so why not Gordon?

I want to drive the buggy.

Yeah, I know HL1 had auto-aim. I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed.

I don't think that the gloves are supposed to be shiny though....

I want to drive the buggy too...

The combine rocket scene was actually pretty damn realistic. And his arms aren't flailing because of the amount of forward motion he has, just so you people don't complain.

HAha that rocket scene did not look realistic at atll
his body wouldnt not be stretched out like that doing cartwheels in mid air haha the buddy shoulda been in big body chunks or disinagrated or even like the body got all the wind knocked out of him like a slouched look in the physics.. and driving the buggy the alien creatures should b able to jump on and block your view while driving stabbing at you . but all in all good video i must say

Well as long as the music is dynamic like farcry I will like it, it adds to atmosphere if it fits with the scene. As far as physics go, SCREW completly realistic. I mean, who cares as long as its fun physics thats all I care about. There is somthing to be said with things being too realistic vs giving it that fun factor edge. I just loved that guy flying through the air. Hey at least we have physics at all and is used more then any game to date, especially the ridiculous non existant physics of Doom 3 (cough)

Well at least his momentum doesn't stop half-way through his flight. Technically he should gib, but flying across the beach looks a lot cooler.

As for the music i think it fit the scene perfectly and that's all i want.

Half-Life 2 does not have models that can bits blown off. Maybe in the final version the Combine would gib. but anyway, if a body was flying through the air, it would do a cartwheel like that. It's a dead body, the Combine no longer has control over it. I'm not sure by what you mean by "slouched look in the physics".

As for the Antlions not jumping on your buggy, none of them were in the position to do that. Try jumping onto a car bonnet when it's going down the road at 30 mph, I bet you can't.

lol slouched as in the body in like someone getting punched soo hard in the stomach they lean forward to hold them selves.. n i dont think i could hold on to that buggy doing 30 but i believe an alien is alot stronger than us could hold on!!

ya it does its probably the music gabe bobs his head too when listening

So, you think that Half-Life 2 would be more realistic if, after getting hit by rocket, a combine soldier would grab their stomach and go "ooof"?

Noooo like not holding him sel but like sideways or flung out like when a squid strides in the water his body pushed out to like a 90 degree angle

hmmm... maybe his gloves are shiney b/c of his HEV suit. It hasta send power throughout everypart of the armor to be protected (power armor)

The rocket thing was a little over the top in a way. But it was definitely funny to see the guy fly like that. Why can't you just gib people like in HL1? Honestly, I actually like the flying acrobatics better - it's just funny to watch. But at least a leg or something should get blown off too - yea, I know, I'm a sick bastard. Too bad you can't dismember people in addition to blowing them arorss the map.

You can dismember the antlions, I don't see why HL2 couldn't support human dismemberment.

As for actual gibbing, people don't just turn into gibs when something explodes near them. it depends on the explosion, but they usually stay relatively in one piece (sometimes shrapnel may cut off a limb, but they don't explode into a bunch of meaty bits)

I never quite understood the gibbing of hl1. I didn't know if you got hit by a frag grenade, you could explode into hearts, lungs, and a skull.

The best gibs were violent showers of random parts coming out of vents...

the BEST gibbing is from a game called "Rise of the Triad" where it litterally RAINS blood when you get someone with a rocket.

Actually, it's the opposite. Total, or even partial, disintegration would be unrealistic. A combine getting hit with a rocket might lose a limb, but nothing more violent than that. Especially if they're wearing really durable suits. The distance he flies might be exagerated a bit, but the damage is realistic.

As for the antlions, the car is going fast enough that they're getting gibbed by it. They might be able to jump on but, like regular people, they would most likely be injured in the process.

Since everything in the game is physically simulated, there's no reason why they couldn't jump on at slower speeds though.

Yea...liked the music by itself but im def turning it off while playing the game. I want to hear the ambience sounds and stuff. :)

And to go off topic - Who is that guy in the logo with the valve coming out his eye? Anyone important or a nobody?

i think the coastline music sounds kinda wacky, but really flows with the level. :p

Maybe the shiney gloves are Gordon's favourite leather driving gloves. Maybe he pulls them on for a lovely bit of driving in the countryside, along with some dorky driving goggles and a silly hat.

As for the music... it seems okay, but I try to avoid playing games with music turned on. When I'm walking around in real life, there isnt music playing from some magical source. Its just my preference though. I prefer to walk around listening to the environment/enemies etc.

No idea about the Valve guy. I'm guessing a nobody. I doubt Valve would have got anyone well known just to pose for the camera with a valve coming out of his head. Esp not when they were first starting up.

Actually... maybe the valve logo guy is Valve Software's information centre. When the valve gets sticky and can't be opened, we get a dry spell of info. Seems to happen quite a lot. They need to lube that valve!

Hehehe. That one made me laugh

On topic: I liked the music. It was aggressive and suited the driving, but not the whole thing though. If it goes on like that for too long I will probably just turn it off.
