CoD: WaW Wii screenshots released... ew.

Why the grain of salt? It has given me more fun than the 360 and PS3 - it's what I do with friends after the pub, after work, and on lazy sundays. The other consoles don't get turned on when ppl are around.

Word. Wii boxing is all we need after a hard night of drinking.

I don't turn my consoles on at all when people are around and I have a Wii. If kids are around the enjoy it however.

Fair enough. I find it goes very well with drinking and groups of guys and gals.

:) Especially when two rather well endowed girls are fighting. It's almost a spectator sport.

There are many activies that go well with drinking, not that I drink often. I'm not one to associate drinking with having a good time, I dislike having an impaired judgment.

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure some of my mates would appreciate the view.

HA! Yeah. The regulars in my camp, they've caught on, but they know it's all in good fun.

You're completely failing to see beyond your own tastes while also putting a monetray value on fun, which is pointless.

Pretty much every group of friends I have has a Wii in their home - the same goes for many of mine and their family members. That's a good cross section of hardcore, casual and non gamers who all enjoy the Wii regularly. The majority of these people would have no use for a 360, PS3, or high end PC - and would certainly have felt ripped off had they purchased one - yet think the Wii is great.

When it comes to enjoyment per pound the Wii has been by far the best value console for me this generation. Call them kiddified if you like, but i'll take Samba De Amigo/Boom Blox/Wii Bowling/Mario Kart etc etc with a bunch of friends over pretty much anything else. As for getting old quickly, Wii Bowling is proving more fun now than at launch - having 20 odd regular players, all with tiny feuds and high scores to beat, turns it into something rather excellent.

There's a Wii in my home too. We have all the consoles out there together in the living room. The thing is that NO ONE uses the Wii. We used it a bit when Brawl came out, we used it a bit when Mario Kart was fresh, and I personally used it a lot on Galaxy - but that's it. One time I got drunk and played Wii bowling for like 3 hours in some chicks apartment. It sits there gathering dust. And the consoles one defining gimmick, motion controls, aren't even useful on Brawl and MK. In fact we used NGC controllers when we played them.

In contrast, the PS3 and 360 get a ton of use when we have parties or are just hanging out. To this day we still pull out Guitar Hero or go to a friend's apartment and play Rock Band. Co-op games like Resistance, Halo (grrr...), Vegas, etc. get far more attention than the Wii ever could. I would bet that the total time that ANY ONE OF US played GTAIV or MGS4 meets or exceeds the time we've ALL used the Wii.

The games just aren't that good. And the console isn't very good. And the gimmick isn't really even that good. And it rarely gets used. And it's grossly overpriced. I really don't see the appeal of the thing apart from young children.

But if others enjoy it and think it's worth it, then that's cool. Good for you. I just have a very different opinion and have had very different experiences with it.

Fair enough.

Games like GTA, Halo, Resistance etc wouldnt go down well at all with my groups of friends. Even Mario Kart and Brawl are too hardcore/traditional. A handful of the guys would be happy, while the rest, and all the girls, would be pissed off. Stick on Samba De Amigo or Boom Blox, though, and things are quite different. Then everyone's laughing and having having fun.

Perhaps the Wii is only fun when you can feed off causal/non gamers like a vampire - feasting on the novelty and excitement and forgetting the jaded, played every genre on every platform a 100 times, gamer inside. Either way I don't care - I haven't had as much fun gaming in years and genuinly love seeing other people get so much pleasure from video games. It's an alternative to going down the park with a football/kite/frisbee, or sitting around and playing cards - something fun to do while socialising.
