COD4-PC new maps~[sponsored by NVIDIA]

Great news! Heads up that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack sponsored by NVIDIA will be available worldwide for our PC players next week on June 5th!

NVIDIA is making it possible for PC players to download the map pack for Free on the PC thanks to their sponsorship. In addition, expect to see quite a few promotions popping up leading up to the launch of the map packs on the 5th and beyond. I know NVIDIA has a lot of great things planned for PC users in addition to maps becoming available.

You can laugh at others all you want and think how good this is but it's actually horrible, horrible news.

See, instead of receiving these for free like we have for a zillion years they're now resorting to rubbish like them being needed to be 'sponsored' instead of just plain been released free. What happens if there isn't a sponsor next time?

This is just a stopgap thing, they're still trying to figure out a way to make you pay for them.

Not every one (unfortunately) agrees with Valve's post-release update policy. If other companies need a sponsor to release free content then so be it.
 
Other people see that as a great way to make some decent money. Valve, being so awesome, as been doing it for years. <3

tbh, I'm just glad we're getting this for free at all. Xbox live has opened the door for all kinds of greedy schemes, and it's only going to get worse.

Fixed.

They have plenty of custom maps to play, just none of them are ranked.
I'm already tired of the stock maps and I'm only on rank 23, so new maps will be great for myself... as long as they're ranked.

20+ server with 1.6 so far.

KillHouse = the new shipment its a lunatic map, you die at least 100 times after the map ends :)

Creek = sniper lover map, this is the best map after china town,

China Town = This map is the best in the package, (Team death players will love this map)

TV = Hardest map, loads of rooms and corners to camp :)
 
Awesome, in that case I'll install it.
Can't wait to try out creek.

edit : Wtf, I can't install it it says I don't have a valid installation???
Could it be because I deleted the 1.50gb worth of cutscenes in my singleplayer game? :|
Meh, whatever I'll just reinstall.

Edit 2 : Okay, now when I try to start the game up... it gets the profile selector and then just crashes.
What the ****.
edit 3 : nvm, forgot I had to rename the mssmp3.asi file to .bak(It was actually already done but it had two files in it. D: )

Killhouse - Worst map of the bunch, spawn die spawn die etc.
Broadcast - Best of the bunch, it's deceptively large... awesome gunfights.
Chinatown - Also the best of the bunch, you can go in nearly every building on almost every floor... so awesome!
Creek - It's okay, a sniper's paradise.
 
I am looking forward to trying out the new maps, thanks for the heads up lucid about them. :)

im only getting about 80kbs, there servers must be bogged down
 
Unfortunately I got mine through steam and wont let me get the patch unless its via steam? Anyone know when that happens?

When the developers of the game give VALVe the files and the go ahead to give the patch out.
 
It also turns out that Chinatown's actually a remake of Carentan for COD1 + 2.

I knew something looked familiar about the overall map structure.

Ahh rightio. When I loaded up cod4 up it didn't say there was a new patch available. got it working now anyway :)
