This mod MAY become either of these.

anyways, heres the story of Coder's Nirvana:
Your in a simulated environment with the rest of the world, but you know something they dont, you know it is a giant Virtual Reality Simulator (VRS). This VRS is your home, what you know and love. You must hack out of it and show your mind the free world. Then you have to hack back in and free the rest. During this struggle you are equiped with weapons such as "The Cacher" and "The Debugger".

and heres the story of Coder's Revenge (1st idea):
Your a coder, getting your revenge at the world for laughing at you. You have weapons such as "The Fragmenter" and "DoSer".

and finnaly, Coder's Revenge (2nd idea):
Your a coder fighting hackers. ...thats all ive decided so far.

I need your help! I need everything from coders to modelers. If you want to reply to this thread. Me and my (soon to be) team will vote for which one we want.

Coder's Nirvana is The Matrix without superpowers, and possibly without robots.
Coder's Revenge (1) is Postal 2.
Coder's Revenge (2) is... Tron?

You should go more in-depth than a single paragraph, even if 70% the ideas are going to be tossed anyway. Neat idea, though. It's got potential.

At least it's not another World War 2 mod.

yeah i think you really need to concerntrate on the story to make it different from the matrix. its a good idea but it could easily turn into a cheap ripoff.

I find this a very ironic thread. A mod about coders that has no coder.

Idea 4:

Search for the Coder.

You play as the leader of a newly created WWII/Zombie mod. You are an 'Ideas Man', and your goal is to round up your two buddies (a concept artist and a PR man) and search the internet for a coder. If you don't have a coder within one month, you get flamed into oblivion.

Gameplay could consist primarily of a three-way Co-op campaign, wherein you must navigate games forums, modding forums, and finally move on to the dreaded coding forums. Along the way you would have to battle (or avoid) Angry Lawyer, Crispy, PiMuRo, and others, and you could pick up NPCs to help you (such as a novice coder {who learned to code from a BASIC book in the middle-school library}, who would join your mod as a coder but then quickly move on to a different one, or maybe a modeler {who doesn't quite understand unwrapping or skinning}).

Levels would consist of mostly straightforward combat, with some stealth thrown in. Weapons would be such as the AntiLogic Crossbow, the FlameThrower, and the powerful but unwieldy EditButton.

Extra points are awarded for releasing unskinned renders, making bold, baseless statements about "revolutionising" FPS games and "Raising the bar" of realism, drawing concept art you'll never use as a reference, and violating as many IP laws as possible.

man Houndeye, thats an f'n great idea for a mod tbh. You play as a n00b mod leader that does anything and everything to get his rip off idea made into a mod. It's basically a puzzeler game, but you can do stuff like tracking IP's so you can hunt down modders in the real world and threaten them and their families until they agree to make something for your mod (how else do these modders get people to join their mod). If your a skilled player, you can find out the addresses of reviewers and hl2 newsie websites and popular forum posters, and get them to side with you by paying them off, or killing them and posting from their home computer, pretending to be them, so your mod gains popularity.

it's hard to say how gameplay will work, but for comical value, people would play the mod :D
