I have a few question about Collage, what GPA does most require? And what classes?

I really wanna go to a College aiming at Computer Animation, Modeling, Design, Gaming creation, graphics, Engineer CAD etc etc.

Right now i am taking the classes i need for this, and have A+ in all these classes. However, in other classes that has nothing to do with this, i have pretty bad grades...so my question is: Will classes that has nothing to do with my Collage education to do, effect me to be accepted or not being accepted into the collage?

Here is my classes and grades:

Language Art D
World Regions C
Computer Animation/modeling A+
Algerbra D
Lifetimesports (PE) B
Earth n Space Science A
Engineer Draw CAD A+

Next year im continuing on Computer classes such as
Architectural Draw CAD
Advanced Engineer Draw CAD
Computer Service

As you can see, my grades in other classes are pretty bad (with some exeptions), this is because i really dont give a shit about them, and spend all free time doing work and extra work for the computer classes. For example, if i have Algerbra homework beside me (due tomorrow), and a computer infront of me....i would 95% of the time just sit at the computer doing Modeling, sketching, drawing, engineering, animation, materialising, mapping etc etc, only computer tech (and gaming ofcorse).

Is this good? Is it better to give all time you have into one thing, and just dont care about the other? What is more important?

For you who know about Collage, what do they look for? Do i really need a good grade in World Regions to be accepted into a computer collage?
Im hoping to get a certificate in Computer Expertice classes when i graduate and hope that will help me into a Collage.

LOL, sry, i always forget how to spell it....another reason why im asking this lol...

you know what i mean...

you guys are so evil lol.

i'm nto sure how it works, but generally, these fields have quite some competition if i'm not mistaken, and usually they take ppl with the highest total, so if youre up against someone else for a certain spot you might lose.

If you want to go tech school then you definately need to bump up your math score, a D in Algebra looks really really bad on your transcript. You may want to opt to re-take it over the summer and achieve a higher score, although certain colleges will only accept your first grade (D in your case) so you might want to check.

Also, a lot of colleges look at your weighted GPA in specific courses, so you'll probably throw out all your extra-curricular ones (ex. lifetime sports or whatever). Most major colleges look at your English, Math and Science ... the rest are irrelevant unless you have terrible grades in them. GPA-wise it all depends on your school, I'd say 3.0 to 3.5+ are probably standard for a decent major college.

Your SAT 1 (or ACT) scores are also important, and if you want to enter a really major tech school then SAT 2 scores will also be required (like Math 2, Physics, Chemistry ... but again, only necessary for the really tough schools). Alternatively to SAT2, you could do really well in the AP courses and pass the AP test which you need a 3 or 4 I think.

It's not good to 'put all your eggs in one basket', simply put even if you major in your choice of Computer field, you'll still be required to take the pre-req courses that often involve different areas (generally math for computers). If I were you, I'd definately pay more attention in your other classes and start getting those grades back up.

Anyway, overall you'd best talk with your high school college counselor to get more info for your specific college, what I said was mostly in-general type info.

I hear that to do any job with computers you need to be good at maths.

I was going to come into this thread, declaring that one requirement to get into college is the ability to spell, but its already taken care of. I wouldn't of done it though in actuality, since I'm such a nice, wonderful, happy guy who's life isn't falling to shit.
