Colt 1911 (WIP)

here is my colt 1911, and no i didnt use the tut to make it, it isnt done yet, there are still some lil details and the texturing that need to be done, but i thought i should see wat u guys think

yeah i am working on that, but having trouble, because now when i select a face to uvmap it doesnt turn red, just the edges of the face, same when editing polygons on the model, how do i turn it back to making the entire face red.
 
If this is in Max then right click the viewport name in the top-left corner and go to configure. Then check the box called "shade selected faces". If it's another program, then I don't know.
About the model; it's not bad but I'm pretty sure it's not a 1911.

Just trying to clarify. If that is the gun your modeling, then there are a couple innaccurasies, like the safety switch dosn't look quite right. If your going to put this in game then it's good enough for me, but the skin will make or break it. Good luck with that.
 
lol yea, your gun looks exactly like the swat6 in that pic.

It is a 1911 action, there have been so many guns based on the 1911 action you wouldn't believe.
the only 'genuine' 1911 is the m1911a1 military service.
I don't get picky with people calling a 1911 based gun a 1911.
 
The Swat6 appears to be a 1911 knock-off. Like Recoil said, there are so many of those. Pretty much every gun manufacturer makes one. Smith, Taurus, Kimber, Springfield, Colt (duh), Ruger, the list goes on.

Anyway, the model doesn't look half bad. Once skinned it will look pretty good. Good luck with skinning :).
 
oh right i am sorry i was looking at the wrong ref pic when i named the model, it is a kimber.
 
thanks, i have already uv mapped the btm and i am working on the textures, but i just started to learn how to make metal texture in photoshop, so my textures arent great.
 
ok i finsihed my texture it was pretty easy cuz my reff pic was easy to transform into a game texture. everything except the clip and the trigger

none taken, i have gotten way better at modeling pistols, it is big rifles with lots of dips and changes in height that i am not good at.

Oh and about the texture being bad, i told u i wasnt very good at it, it is better than some textures in poa (deagle **hint** **hint**).

as for the texture you should practise on the stuff form tuts .. or take some time learning photoshop in general get acustomed to its tools .... u cnatj ust work out a texture using a picture ... can u post the uvw ?
 
ok, btw i am good at photoshop, just not creating metal textures from scratch, ut i can make entire websites and stuff, and it is plan of attack.
