They say they have over 7700 dvd titles but when I browse through there isn't that many. Are the rest hidden until you become a member? :hmph:

DUDE DON'T JOIN THEM!
The service is ****ing awful!
The first week, when you pick out your big selection of movies...
It's fine, but then they take weeks and I mean WEEKS... to ship you your next batch.
Plus I've gotten scratched discs from them.

And yes the rest of the movies are hidden until you become a member.
But I highly...HIGHLY advise you do NOT join them.

Oh and you get spam mail up the ass.

Roger! I kind of figured it was shit since I was in the PC Game club many moons ago and got stuck with that shitty Evolva game.

I am just trying to expand my DVD collection. It's gone from around 5 to around 30 in the last couple months.

Offtopic - You thought Evolva was shit?
I personally loved the game, vibrant and colorful enviroments... interesting evolution system, nice squad combat too.

But, If you wanna expand your DVD collection... and you're extremely desperate... Join up with Columbia House for the first several movie picks only. Then cancel it!
Voila, Instant boost in movies.

I'll stick with the bargain bins and Wal-Mart, they never fail.

Heh, I was thinking of mentioning that.
But I didn't think you'd go to a Wal-mart.

Oh I truly hate going to Wal Mart but it's the only adequate source for DVDs.

My suggestion may not be helpful to you if you're just looking to fill out your home collection, but if you just want to watch a whole bunch of DVD's, join Netflix. I've been with them for a few months and have found their service and selection to be outstanding.

Ebay, baby. You can find some really cool stuff there. My roommate bought the entire Muppets collection for like, a hundred and twenty bucks. Truly beautiful.

Despite the fact that I've received
a) Severely scratched dvds
and
b) Broken in half dvds.
from them, Yeah Netflix is good.

Already a member for the third time :D

Mine is around 70 without Columbia's bullshit nor using lots of money. Course it took me about a half a year to do that, and it was indeed about $600 and the only thing I allowed myself to spend money on every week besides food and gas. :p

When I quit smoking I decided to use the money towards cds/dvds instead. Though I am probably spending a lot more than what I did on cigs.

Yeah, but DVDs are more cultured than cigarettes.

l.o.l.

Check out DVDtalk.com

They explain, with the precision and methodology of a neurosurgeon, exactly how to maximize your savings when using Columbia House. What I know is this: The deal works if you are planning to buy several movies, at the same time. If you are going to end up buying another 10 movies just b/c you are obliged to do so, maybe it's not such a good ideal, even if you end up paying $8 a pop.
