I noted that the Combine Advisors have animations that make them look like they're underwater. Yeah. Are the slugs really fishes? Discuss.

They are evolved Ichythasaurs.

Definantly.

*nods solemnly*

They can with super-science(TM) technology. They have a wierd blue hover-yoke(TM) attached to their backs.

Maybe they require that tank of liquid(?) to survive. Maybe they are unaccustomed to Earth's atmoshpere, and require a large tank of liquid(lol) to survive, that might also be why they have a big mask on, maybe supplying them methane from a vortigaunt's dual-arse.(lolhalo)

lol

So they took over aussie and nz pretty easily?

I think that the Combine Advisors are very vulnerable in earth's environment. Different athmosphere (they have masks). Maybe the earth's gravity is stronger than on the Combine homeworld, and they can barely move, so that's maybe they are in some sort of...well, 'fluying beds'...

What, the squirming or the whipping of their, eh, antennae? Where did you see this?

I hope we get to fight one in episode 2, going by the screenshots, videos etc we're going to get up close and personal with them

Yeah, like some big fat immobile worm could deal me some damage...their only weapon is their mind (which is quite a dangerous weapon indeed), dunno how Valve will arange such a fight, if they ever plan to.

Okay: I saw this in Raising T3h Bar.
Combine Advisor:

"In designing this character we wanted to suppose than organism, not unlike humans, began to depend of the techbology that was originally created to improve it's quality of life. Over the course of its evolution, it became grublike, with limbs no longer to support its own weight, eyes to feeble to see without aid, a body now incapable of movement, fully dependant on the technology that it created. It was, however, incredibly evolved its avility to reason, invent, and dominate the minds and cultuers of other beings(mind rape)." -Ted Backman

So, were going to turn into grubs soon too!
