Combine are on the simpsons

The other day I was watching a rerun of the simpsons(about 4 or 5 years old i think), when I noticed something a little strange. It was the episode with the Leader where the simpson family join that cult and they are a big scam or something. But anyhoo back on track, Mr. burns decided to make his own cult and he had a security force of armed guards to control his minions. These security guards look exactly like the combine with the same blue colored armor and gas-mask like face, they even have the same vests and everything.

I believe that this means either Valve is a bunch of plagurizing douchebags or Matt groening built himself a time machine and went to the future and back.
 
I would have responded to that post with "Nice find, heh, you're right, they do look similar :cheers:" But then you spoilt it by saying: "either Valve is a bunch of plagurizing douchebags or Matt groening built himself a time machine".

Ugh, why does everything have to consist of some derrogatory comment or speculation about Valve?

I believe I saw the same guards in the episode where Mr. Burns is having his birthday party, and he finishes it by leaving, then bringing in these guards to beat people for no reason. That part might be edited out for some stations though due to time restraints.
 
No, I believe those guys wore glass visors and black clothing... then again I could also be wrong :)
 
I think it's pretty close actually....not that I care, they could look the exact same and it wouldn't matter to me.
 
ummm.. gee i went to a protest and saw that as well.. i think ive seen them on tv too.. its the riot kevlar armor and gasmask, they all kinda look the same, and they all are supposed to look fvcking scary. The one that the combine are based off of (the gasmasks anyway) I think were russian issue..
 
anyone seen the Jin Roh the wolf brigade? they are like combine/storm trooper nazis.. . just wondering :)
 
Those are not the same type of gasmask

The simpsons ones have a helmet and only have 1 breathing unt or voice emitter in the front while the combine ones have no helmet and have both a voice emitter and breathing unit. Different mask altogether
 
nice find, but, as fd said, not the same helmet. i mean, look at the guy, he should know :)
 
Lets see, security uniform with bullet proof vests and gas masks. That idea is so unorigional, how could you possibly call it plagarisim.
 
There's something about the Combine masks that looks REALLY unsettling. Maybe it's just me, but my rabid imagination suggests they're wearing masks partly because they look frickin horrific under them.

after i saw some ps2 game screenies for a ps2 game in development i went out eand saw that movie... it rocks!

( wanna see the movie ? The magic word is p2p ;) )

btw i forgot what the ps2 game is called... err. sorry.

Right so changing my mind makes me spineless so I should have still complimented him on being an ass hole to Valve? I don't think it works like that buddy, welcome to the forums.

It's called Killzone and I must say that the Combine and the Helghast soldiers in Killzone kinda resemble each other.

The fact that they haven't released a video of Killzone yet is because the people behind Jin Roh seem to think they've ripped off their character design... So until they can settle their differences we won't see any video of Killzone until some time out in 2004 unfortunately.

Killzone looks great from the screenshots though. Love the artwork and overall look of it.

Yup, they have a good case but I find it hard to believe that Guerilla (who's making Killzone) would be that stupid to just deliberately and directly copy their design like that. Someone was gonna find out about it sooner or later hehe.
 
yeah the killzone soldiers do look too close to comfort like Jin-roh's soldiers

I'm looking at a 4 ft tall by 3ft tall wallscroll of Jin-roh right now

Hehe, welll... They don't resemble each other much physically but I think they share some artistic similarities.
