Combine Citadel theory

You know when they are interigating people in the first few minutes of the game? I think they kill people and genetically change them/not kill people but still genetically change them to fit the needs of the combine. As for the citadel, I wish there was more information on it becaus eit is driving me nuts.

The citadel acts as a drill of sorts

that's very obvious when you see shots of the citadel from far away, especially when you first see it in 'route kanal' ... you can actually see portions of it moving up and down, much like a pile driver.

I believe that the combine are allied with Race-X

Thats not true, race x are out of the picture, marc laidlaw stated that race x was gearbox's creation to make more enemies...nothing more.

The combine are an alien race that go around planets assimilating races and absorbing them. The only actual cobmine you see in the game is an advisor, who breens talking to.

The combine soldiers are humans fused with combine tech, the striders are part of a race called Synth...another that the combine absorbed.

The citadel is a factory of some sort.

The claw things that are moving every now and then are consuming metals and other minerals/gas/liquids. If you remember the end of Nova Prospekt where there was a junk yard and a hallway of those claws you'll understand. They were consuming the garbage and recycling it. The next step is that the things that are consumed are send to the citadel and are applied to the factory area. An example was in the beta, the children were working in a factory making stalkers and things out of parts of junk for the Combine.

A combine a farming implement used to reap a crop of its yeild. So in that context, you can think of the combine empire as a sort of reaper of the worlds. The citadels are sort of the teeth (or whatever gathers wheat stocks on a regular combine) that takes from the planet and processes it into something that the rest of the combine could use.

I wonder if the "Resources" they're talking about are just people and not so much things like oil and whatnot........or it could just be both.

no the resources are water, oil etc coz if u look on the coasts in hl2 theres moss which looks like where water used to be. people arent exactly resources lol

Theres two classes of XEN aliens and they are at war with each other I think if i remember right it was class 1 (Combines soldiers and Combines...) Class 2 (Hydra and those bugs that fly and burrow...)

lol combine arent xen there an extremely advanced civilization on an unknown planet but apparently they take over other worlds to make a bigger army. hydras were cut from half life 2.

Ooh, I have it! The Combine are called the Combine because they are harvesting the earth's resources. The citadel acts as a drill of sorts, and the Combine are the harvesters. That would explain their name, as a combine is (as everyone knows) a farming harvester. It makes sense, it really does![/Q

the term combine might not actually be the races real name it might just be the name that humans called them so the reason they might be called combine is because they turn humans
into aliens/humans
