This shot shows that the combine troopers eyes glow in a cool creepy way, I think it adds alot to their character but why is this the only shot we have seen it in?

Well, it's probably due to the darkness of the surroundings? Perhaps it's some sort of infra-red system and changes according to level of light?

/me puts his wild guesses in his pocket.

It kind of add's the effect that was used for the marins in Final Fantasy movie, with their whole faces covered with a gigantic helmet and the glowing eyes.

For depth perhaps?

/me shrugs :)

Deep Eyes.

Those guys were great. I loved the gas delivery system.

There was a topic like this a long time ago, we decided on it being some kind of IR-goggles.

Maybe it's just reflecting all the fire that's around him..? Very possible.

I think taht screen might acctually be a newer build. The hud looks a lil more updated to me, my guess is teh hud in the e3 vids was a placeholder.

Yeah I like the hud in that shot, its still Half Lifey with the glowing didgets but its also very industrial because it looks like a analouge didget changer if you know what i mean.

And if you look at it, it appears as though u can get 200 HEV power.

I wish the goggles had the effect that the ninjas in the original Onimusha had, like when they flipped the light of their eyes would follow the exact path that the ninjas body movements. Another example would be the Orbital Frame Jehuty from Zone of Enders 1/2.

that HUD looks reallly old, i mean pre pre e3 demo.

yea, I hope glowing eyes are in the final. :)

What makes you say that?

It's actually more advanced than the one in the bink vids.

I wanted to point that that screenshot compared to the final version of HL2 is like this one compared to HL1.

Lol, I love that model, like an angry Scottsman

Mr.Magnetichead imo they look very very undone and like somebody made a shoddy hud for a 10 minute mod.

Well thats just me. I doubt valve would use that CS addone 1 minute made hud.

The e3 video hud looks like it took 2 minutes to do. Its a semi transparent box with simple numbers and letters in it.

but the one in that picture looks even more shoddy

The hud of the E3 vids is awesome. Really simple and cool. It doesn't get any cooler than that. And I'm not joking either.

Edit: It's "it" not "I". :)

I like the way the hud is, nice and simple like HL1's. Thats the way it should be. Games with big or annoying HUDs distract you from the gameplay.

that hud looks hella old and snowball fix ur eyes thems be all zeros so u could get 999

Might wanna look at it closer. The only 3 numbers possible in the first diget is 0, 1, and 2. Realistically it would be possible to have 299. I didnt say I didnt like the e3 video's hud, because i do. I like both of em, so if either are used I wont be complaining.

i did look if it was an "empty" armor suit itd be all zeros therfor enabling it to have 999
