Combine Soldiers Speak?

In the E3 Movie when you release that wood-thing down at the combine soldiers, one of them scream "Watchout, watchooout" or something like that?

Also the strange symbols on their vests, do they have their own language? has anybody asked Gabe about this ?

In the hydra movie, the Combine soldier that gets speared says "Hold it there". They do speak, yeah.
 
Hope they speak like the Grunts in HL, over the radio and so on... that was cool IMO.

Holy crap, yeah! If you listen for it, it is CLEAR that he says, "Watch out, AAHH! WATCH OUT!" There is NO doubt about it... everyone, you gotta watch this.

i never heard that before, and as for the symbols most people think they are aliens of some sort, he does say watch out in a very wierd/scrachty voice, pretty cool
 
Whoa! I was just watching the part where gordon tossess the heater thing at the guy up the stairs... if you listen, you can hear him scream in the same voice one said "watch out" in.
 
Not trying to sound like a wise-ass know-it-all, but I noticed this the first time I watched the vid. But yeah, it's pretty cool.
 
I hope they speak like the grunts in HL1 too Loke. It was awsome hearing them when you walked into a room you thought was empty "Sir weve got hostiles!!!". Or the part where youre in the vents and the 2 are sitting there " I killed 12 dumbass scientist and not one of them fought back!" toss a grenade , not this scientist.
 
I hope they say something like:Sh!t! When you throw a grenade at them and they're stuck...or maybe,"I'm screwed!"
 
I dont believe it, people have just found out they speak :LOL: , in the hydra movie, as someone said, they clearly speak
 
Where is the hydra movie? It wasn't included in the 20 minute video, and I can't find it anywhere else. I've seen it once when someone gave me a link but I lost it.
 
Try searching the forums for a link, I'm sure youll find one...
 
The hydra movie is at gamspot.com. Beware of poor quality feeds and crazy colors though.

Or if he is registered at GameSpot he can get a high-quality video (Not has good as the new 3 ones though, plus that he must pay money to download it).

Anyway, why didn’t they include the Hydra in the 25min trailer?
 
I hate to burst ur bubble, but I feel pretty sure those guys arent the combine. I believe they are the Police force in City 17. Heres a pic to show what I mean.

Then again, the combine could have a ranknig system. In other words, the higher the rank = the better thier uniform is.

However, I think the City 17 Police Force thoery might be true (I read about it somewhere.) But, hey... it was a thought. :cheese:
 
I think it's more a nazi city. SS quarding the streets and make sudden raids and stuff...

In one of the previews it said that there are two variations on the combine, the heavily armored and the regular troops.
 
What makes you think the Combine are alien at all? They speak English, they are fairly man shaped, they have human guns. And I've never actually heard Valve call them aliens either. Hell, for all you know they could be the US Army working with the aliens to take over the world. Explain some of the hardware at least.
 
The "secret police" in Snowballs picture looks like an earlier model (look at that awful flat gun!).

A lot of Eastern Europe was once under commie influence.
Like Romania for example. Where City 17 is likely located.
 
We think they're aliens because they are associated with other aliens and seem to have uniforms covered in alien script. On the other hand they're humanoid, have hair, and apparently some speak English.
Its enough to make your head hurt.
 
ITs obvious that the combine soldiers are alien, Are you people jsut dumb or something? They have a chilling goat like voice and they scream in a weird fassion when they die. The picture you posted about the combine soldier and secret police is well...Stupid to be frank.Its the same mask just at a different angle. It is hard to explain why the one soldier in the Hydra Scene had a human voice, maybe the aliens have elecrontice voice systems to make human commands so that humans will understand.

For instance no human will understand " beeegaeaaageaa"

But if an alien force is trying to occupy the world they would be smart enough to implant human voice into themselves so that they can make simple commands like

"stop right there!"
"drop your weapons"
"Don't move"

its still confusing ebcause when the hydra strikes the soldier he screams like a human< Weird.
Its makes occupation more controllable, anyone ever thought of that? Didn't think so.

Yes, there are variations in the combine troops. but more then one. If you look ate the varous pictures that have the combine in them then you will see that the combine inside a buidling or at night wear blackmask's, and the combine outside wear white masks. also there are 3 tipes of uniforms, the normal ones, the onews with the yellow sleaves and the ones with the red ring thingy on it. It also semans that the logo's at the backs tell that in a symbol thing thier type of troop. positive logo is outside stuff (strider) and negative logo is the inside troops

manby it is a bit farfetched, bu they have gone pretty far in using a scientific "do-hicky" in the kleiner video. that bends space and time or something into a portal or some sort
 
i read some review saying that there will be many alliances and enemy-making (best word i could come up with) between multiple groups. It seemed to suggest that the combine was not associated with aliens.
