Command and Conquer 3 - yes, it's true!

No! Now my Command & Conquer: The First Decade DVD is obsolete!
*crys and listens to Hell March*
**** me this is good news. I just hope it doesn't work like Generals but it probably will ;(

The plot is very interesting and I loved the original C&C so I have hope.

Though...the real time cut-scenes are kind of a turn off. They were mad cheesy in the original.

The RA2 ones far even worse :p

The least cheesy one are probably the first C&C cut-scenes imo. :p
Tiberian Sun had a few good too, especially the one were Slavik cuts the throat of Hassan. Brutal.

BTW, was Hassan also the main terrorist in 24 Season 3...or was it 4...which season is it now?

I agree that the name C&C 3 is very silly but the C&C series takes place in the "Tiberian universe" which began with the original Command and Conquer game and its expansions, continued with Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, and is now continuing with C&C 3 which PC Gamer says is being called Tiberium Wars.

It would make more sense if the game was called C&C: Tiberium Wars than C&C 3: Tiberium Wars but that's the way it goes.

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Wars

Looks like 1, 2 and 3 to me.

Isn't Petrogylph comprised of former Westwood Studios members?, it would be much better if EA handed it off to them, but that doesn't seem very likely. And I refuse to get excited about this until I get more information. What are the new features? What will the interface look like?, etc. C&C should never be touched by EA, but what can ya do. I'm glad I didn't waste the money on Generals, heard it was complete crap.

Tiberium Twilight was a much cooler name.

I agree, but me thinks EA marketing strategists don't want to step outside the norm.

There are not a Tiberian 2 game so how could there be a 3rd?

http://planetcnc.gamespy.com/cnc3/ they got good info and some screens (but the link is weird) and a video clip!!!!

Yes there is.

Command & Conquer + Command & Conquer: Covert Operations = C&C Part 1
Command & Conquer Tiberium + Command & Conquer Tiberium Firestorm = C&C Part 2
Command & Conquer 3 = C&C3

Command & Conquer Red Alert + Command & Conquer Counter-Strike + Command & Conquer Aftermath = Red Alert 1
Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 + Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge = Red Alert 2

Command & Conquer Generals + Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour = Generals 1

The norm? It's norm for the C&C games to have that kind of name. Not only does it sound better but it's kinda contadictory as the game will be based on the third (forth?) Tiberium war and calling Tiberium War makes it sound like there has only been one. Plus it fits the pattern.
Dawn
Sun
Twilight
And then they could have called the next one Knights :p

That's what I would have thought too, but that Star Wars game wasn't too good. I was really looking forward to it too, thinking it would be like a new C&C game. It's unclear how much of the team stayed with EALA, how many moved on to Petroglyph, and how many just scattered. However it gets made, I hope it goes back to the RA2 style sidebar and UI system as opposed to the derivative UI that Generals (and every other RTS ever) used. The old system was not only unique but superior and more intuitive than the systems used by most developers.

I agree TTwilight sounds much better. But the EA reps obviously think the opposite. Plus, throw in the word "War" it seems more....magnetic, not necessarily better. Bleh, don't know what I'm talking about.

The name is fine. Drop it people this is Command and Conquer ****ing 3! WOOOOOOOOOOOT!

Right now, we can only believe them when they say new features

Whilst everybody goes off and plays C&C, I'll be on SupCom. GPG has already provided me with enough info to believe them

I'm going to play both.

Man this is great, I can't believe that Tiberium Wars has finally been "officially revealed".:D
Lets hope it turns out atleast somewhat good!

What i like with Tiberian Sun is the setting, that "world aftermath" feeling you know. Cities in chaos, destroyed buildings, no infrastructure, just dull booring dark cloudy days over a desertificating aftermath struck area, were big Mechwarriors and tanks battle...just love it.

I really hope they make the infantry hardcore style, not gameplay wise, but i just want them to look and move cool, and when they fire i want a big loud ass gun fires that makes your speakers shake to death, while big flames spits out of the pipe. If you see the cutscenes, the weapons NOD uses are pretty heavy, kinda StarShip Troopers style, really love that.

Oh, great find by me i must say :p

Following widespread rumors, Electronic Arts has made it official: Command & Conquer 3 is coming to PCs. When the game ships in 2007, it will be the first new installment in the venerable real-time strategy series since 2003's Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour.

However, unlike Zero Hour, the newest Command & Conquer continues the storyline of the original game. That plot put players in the midst of a fictional near-future conflict that pitted a peacekeeping alliance, the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), against an evil paramilitary organization, the Brotherhood of Nod.

Subtitled Tiberium Wars, Command & Conquer 3 picks up years after the last game in the timeline, 2002's Command & Conquer Renegade, left off. Set in the year 2047, it sees the GDI trying to stop the spread of Tiberium, a toxic extraterrestrial mineral that is spreading across the planet like a fungus. Having far less scruples, the Brotherhood of Nod begins a war to protect Tiberium, which is its prime resource of energy. (There are also unconfirmed reports of a third race being in the game, but no mention of it was made in EA's release.)

Gameplay-wise, EA promises that Tiberium Wars will have an extensive single-player campaign that will feature base-building, unit-combining, and high-tech-weaponry wielding. Multiplayer-wise, the game will offer voice over IP, integrated clan support, and several "new spectator modes" for online competitions.

GameSpot will have more information on Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars as it becomes available.

So, it's after Renegade. GDI and NOD confirmed, and a third race looks likely. My impression is single-player based too :D

Ok, someone just PM me wtf the big deal is!

|: )!

Renegade wasn't the last game in the timeline, Tiberian Sun was. Renegade was set during the original C&C.

If they screw this up, I'm blowing up their headquarters.
I mean, the bombs have been lying there for like two years, so I'd better use them some time, right?

Reading this thread is getting very hard for me. I cant wait for my PC Gamer to get to my house so i can read it info/see the screens!!!
