My 19" monitor died on me and is in getting repaired. In the mean time I am using a monitor that -*barely*- does 800x600.

When I run HL2 now as soon as it starts it tries to change to a resolution that is too high for my monitor.

Do any of you know the startup options I can use to force HL2 to run in a window.

I can't just go into the setting and change the option as I can't read the screen.

I've done a bit of Googling and there is mention of a "-windowed" and "-window" options but neither of them seem to do the trick...

Cheers,
TS.

Thanks hasan.
Tried running the .exe just now with the sw by itself and also the resolution... It still tries to load it in full-screen... :-(

Is there anything I can add to any of the config files to do the same thing?

Why do you need it to run in a window? Why can't it run full screen at low res?

Because the the default resolution/refresh rate the console runs at is too high for the monitor I am using while my 19" one is getting repaired.

I need to be able to get INTO the console to be able to change the resolution down to 640x480. (I was running it at 800x600 on my other montitor).. It's the whole chicken or the ege thing.... :-(

Strange thing is that the monitor is currently running XP at a resolution just above 800x600... not sure exactly.... it's a non-standard one at 60hz refresh.. I guess it's possible the console is trying to run it in excess of 60hz???
