The problem with the video thread is that it's very likely that your link will get far more attention as a shortlived thread (it'll probably be on the front page for at least a day) than as a lonely link in a sea of competing videos.

And the point of EVERY message board post is to get attention, whether people admit it or not. Who hasn't spasmodically hammered refresh every 5 seconds after posting a new thread?

Of course people check the video thread. Why wouldn't you check the video thread? The video thread is there for a reason, and therefore you should use it.

The video thread is a plauge upon this forum. I for one absolutely never check it. It's an annoyance that makes me click "Mark forums as read" just to get rid of it's flashing LOL OMG NEW LINKS POSTED BY STERN INSIDE.

I wish it were done away with. I'd much prefer reading threads and posting in the ones that amuse me, than dealing with the crap that is the video thread.
