Company of Heroes = the best game ever?

Bah, can't be bothered to dl a huge patch like that atm.

Like CoH, just don't play because I cant turn vehicles off in skirmish.

I like to muck about in RTS games quite allot so I like to be able to set parameters on a custom game, like which units are allowed and which aren't.

I might pick this game up but only the vanilla as it looks like it is really ****ed up now. I've heard similar stories with what relic did to dawn of war as well.

I would get Dawn of War, its a good little game, more so if you actually like the fluff (IP) and its not got the same issues Opposing Fronts had, which was to do with new copy protection validation thingers, which DoW doesn't have. Plus you can pick up DoW vanilla pretty cheap by now I reckon, so you can try and see how you like it.

DOW is very worthwhile as is COH, they look and feel somewhat similar but are very different in terms of gameplay. If you get DOW I would recommend vanilla.

CoH is good, but not as good as DoW for ultimate multiplayer action.

I think im going to get Opposing fronts as soon as I can afford it. I dont really play rts multiplayer, but if it's single player is like the first one's, then im all over it.

Lets dig this biatch up again.

Relic just released the first patch since .... almost a year I think. It's quite big -almost 100mb- and contains a ton of changes. Check the patchnotes in the attachment to this post.

Also ToV is coming out very soon. Lots of new mp modes, so that might be fun. No new armies though, so that's kind of a bummer.

Does anyone else still play this?

Will ToV include all 4 armies from the last two games? I have CoH but not the expansion, and I'm really not sure if just 2 new teams are worth the purchase price of that expansion since an ew one is in the horizon.

i bought the game during the Steam Holiday Sale but never played it yet. My stack of unplayed games is growing exponentially

I dunno if it adds PE and Brits if you only have CoH vanilla, but it probably won't. Relic have been very quiet on the changes for the regular multiplayer.

Move this one to the top of your priority list.

Scrap that. ToV unlocks all 4 factions:

Is it true that you get all 4 factions for use in multiplayer if you get Tales of Valor?
Yes, it is true. Tales of Valor unlocks all 4 factions for use in multiplayer. Previously, you needed both vanilla CoH and OF (Or the Gold Edition) to get all 4 factions.

Lots of info in that thread btw.

Relic has well and truly ****ed up with the patching process.
I was going to reinstall COH until I saw that I have to download atleast 12+ ****ing patches!

What the **** were they thinking? Seriously, what the ****.

Yeah, the patches take like 2 hours or something with my connection and I have to attend it constantly to update to next version. To ease the pain of patching, you have to get Tales of Valor. That's bullshit.

One big mega patch would have been a better idea than this. Do install it though. You won't regret it. If you want a quick download mirror, use this link (just change the version numbers to get all the different patches)

Played a lot of CoH the last couple of days since Jimbo got the game. It has been a hassle getting online with Relic giving NAT connection errors, Hamachi not working and borky Tunngle, but it has been a blast nonetheless. This game keeps being fun, even though I have been playing it since the beta went public on Fileplanet.

Yeah, I might reinstall on a day where I have absolutely nothing else to do.
Dear lord...

Considering reinstalling since computer upgrades but 12 patches? Ew.

I'm considering just shelling out for Tales of Valor. :|

I bought CoH only for the single-player.*Batshitinsane*

Because the few times I try multiplayer I ALWAYS get my ass handed to me on a dinner-plate.

I have Tales of Valor but I haven't actually played it online yet. In fact I sort of abandoned playing online COH after I realized how much I sucked at it when I was still getting pwned by everyone six months after release. Nevertheless awesome game, I'd like a HL2net match sometime. Hit me up on Steam if you want to play, I think my RO account name is EnnuiDeckard or something.

I play this game singleplayer relatively often since I just love watching the battles play out.

Nice to hear I'm not the only who plays COH for single-player. In fact, I always prefer SP-oriented games rather than MP. Maybe due to the fear of sucking so hard at a multiplayer match, I have tried COH MP a few times and failed so hard :(
Too scared to go back.

Tales of Valor was pretty meh though. I'm enjoying Men of War a lot more at the moment.

Agreed my dear Sir.

It's an ace game, multiplayer rocks but it's a BIG learning curve, very hard to start off with but once you get to that 'good' level, the matches are so intense.

I don't find it unbalanced but on certain maps with 1v1 you can easily get owned, I just stick to the 2v2/3v3 games.

Enjoy your Vire River Valley/Lyon/Hochwald Gap turtling artillery stalemates. You may as well play CnC instead.

Vire and Lyon are EASY to avoid stalemate.

Major rush wins it everytime. Of course, dependent on how good your team mate is but I only play with friends anyway.

I haven't played in a little while...you people still playing regularly?

I've been playing it a bit lately, but I get put off by some of the hardcore players who freak out when you are loosing. I was on a 3v3 and one of my team mates was going literally skitz at our other team mates, I just left.

I am getting surprisingly good it now though, but does get boring after a while.

Just started playing it with Shaker in 2v2s against the AI. Is major fun. Only played a few maps so far. I do suck atm though. Shaker usually has a Panzer column in the enemy's HQ while I am still arsing about in the rear.

Campaign doesn't interest me really. I prefer just playing Skirmish to get to grips with things first. Bought OF and TOV( for the same price as TOV standalone) so can now try the Panzer Elite etc. No-one seems to play the new modes.
